  1. If the Sharks don’t fix the defense and get consistency on Mack’s line then Mack is bolting at his first opportunity. You visibly see his frustration.

  2. Patience my friend. They were the worst team by a mile last season. Mostly for the same reason, terrible defense.

They have not been drafting many defensive prospects. I had wanted them to trade up from their 30th pick to grab kashon aitcheson but that didn’t happen.

They need more d prospects, and they need to do that through free agency and draft. There are a ton of amazing defensemen in this draft. They’ve shown they aren’t at that level yet despite flashes and amazing offensive play. They could have a decent 1st rd pick of their own as well as their oilers pick. Maybe they trade up, maybe they don’t even need to and they can grab a guy like Reid and someone else in the late first. Two excellent defensive prospects in the pipeline, and I think Reid and a few others can play within the next two years.

Then they grab a guy or two in fa that can help next season. That’s when they really make the playoff push and really show their capability.

It’s going to be a project, but they shouldn’t try to rush it for what I consider little payoff. No, patience and allowing it to play out will pay dividends in 3 or 4 seasons and they can reign for a long time. But for now I think they should be looking towards the draft and seeing how smith, dicky graf and cherny etc are developing. At least one or two of them will be stars in their own right in a few years and that’s when the sharks will really be ready to compete because their team will start to fill out. Right now it’s just cele, a true superstar carrying a bottom tier team. There isn’t a trade in the league that can help that.

  3. Why can't they wait? The fact that they're not dead last is an achievement… Why is everyone so ready to rush it? I swear if Grier trades picks and players for some rental bum I'll be livid. This team isn't doing anything if they make the playoffs. Wait until offseason. Get another midround first pick and bring more rookies up next season. In the long run it'll be worth it.

  4. They can totally wait. Playoffs are too unlikely at this point. Relax, tank one more season and be patient. Don't trade any more draft capital and hope you pick up some good future pieces. We have time
