    i feel bad for sammy g – i like the bigger body but sammy g was a good guy and been around forever – although he is likely not happy, it should be nice for him to not have anymore trade rumors haunting him like the last several years – good luck sammy g!

    I've always defended Girard but I think was time for change for both sides.And for many reasons this helps us THIS YEAR. 2nd rounder is steep-but I'm not worried about 2028. Kulak could leave this summer,& maybe it backfires long term. But we need to go for it now,& they just improved the team today. Stylistiically just makes more sense. Size is an issue in playoffs for G,& Malinski AND Girard going into playoffs just wasn't gonna fly.

    And saving 2.25 million makes adding a Kadri,ROR,or Trochek (& keeping em from Dallas,Minny,or Edmonton)ar more feasible. Doesn't HAVE to be 1 of those guys-though they would be ideal. But AVS still MUST go get good,quality 3C. But now 4th/5th dman is solved but ya probably still need a veteran #7 dman. Kinda EJ or JJish kind of guy last yr or on 2022 team. Go get a quality 3C,& 1 more depth dman,& it's friggin on boys!

    I hope Sammy's able to get into his new team and get the family in and have a great rest of his career he was great on this team he really was having a bigger body will definitely help too. I hope Brett Kulak can move the puck as well as Sam. Sam was great at bringing the puck out bring it into the zone …good luck Sammy

    The move makes sense …until you factor in giving away a 2nd rounder too.
    As someone who hasn't done the math, how is that good?

    Avs must feel bad for being majorly responsible for Sid not getting another gold medal, so they do this to try and make up for it. Hopefully Sid can get another Cup before he retires.
