After seeing the Americans, I don’t see Canada winning. The US is more balanced & deeper.
I dont think its too much to ask for referees to be from a different countries than playing nations, specially on evens the scale of the olympics.
The stick did not touch MacKinnon … Bad call … Good acting.
How can there be two Canadian refs AND an international ref??
Thank you for being the only one Canada too actually say that the calls close and being nice about it.
I have just one thing about the penalty Canada did a cross-check 30 sek earlyer that saw not called. So all 50/50 situation went Canadas way.
Well there’s photo evidence that the play wasn’t offside. So he agrees that the officials were correct on both counts
I was angry and I was with Teemu, but better team won. Life isn't always fair. All the best from Finland and good luck on Final!
All this whining is detracting from an excellent hockey game. Every player is responsible for their sticks movements having played the game Teemu knows this, everything else is just retoric that lessens the Fins accomplishments. Stop it
What is so hard about having refs from other countries to ref these games?
The puck is moving a lot faster than his skate. So, if you had more frames it likely would show the puck off of the blue line, while the skate is still on. In any event, with the video that we have, there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call on the ice, which was that it was onside.
As for the high stick. A player is responsible for their own stick, even if it was lifted by the opponent. I've seen similar calls in the NHL. It would be way too hard for a ref to know how the stick got that high at the speed things happen. They would need to review everything after the fact.
Maybe the Czech goal should have been reviewed for how many guys were on the ice at the time. Just saying. LOL
He didn’t lift the stick into his own face and flop complete garbage take, high stick all day
Thats why Canada wins so many Stanley cups most refs in the nhl are Canadian 😂
Marchy was pushed, the ref signaled that, challenge it and go on pk
Stop whining already 😂😂😂
Mack loves to ride that blue line like a razor wire but youve got to love the guy he is accurate as hell.
No matter what, you shouldn't have officials from the countries that are playing the game. Especially in World Championship and Olympics.
Actually, there was one time during the Championship series of the 1987 Canada Cup where the Soviets didn't object to a Canadian referee, despite the fact that the Soviets opponent was Canada
It seems though that Mack has always been an honest player relying solely on his skill – until now. This was a massive acting job as he clearly lifted the other guys stick into his own face. He saw an opportunity to do the dirty thing and took it 🙁
Canada cheadet AGAIN THEY DO THIS EVERY YEAR even in the juniors i am so disopointet in canada they are scared of losing so much and canadas 2 goal wasent a goal ehter and why is there 2 canadan refs
Not saying anything on the substance of the game, cause I missed it, but with all the controversies back in the 1990s in the figure skating events with the nationalities of judges, you would think the modern Olympics would have enough awareness not to have any referees from a country competing in the individual games. To have not one but two referees be the same nationality as the team that one the game is is own controversy that I had thought these games had gotten passed. That was a bone headed choice by whoever scheduled the refs. Each game should be officiated by refs neutral to the outcome. I'm NOT saying there can't be Canadian refs, that's dumb. I'm saying they cant ref games team Canada plays. Same goes for the USA and refs from our country, and any other country competing. I won't call foul here, this is the gold metal match everyone predicted, but I will give shade to the Olympics organizers for not being more aware with their choices. That's my two cents.
The Finns sound like Leafs fan right about now.😢😢😢
Has no one ever watched the Olympic hockey refs before this year? If there's one thing you can count on its bad reffing. Phantom calls, missed calls, terrible decisions on reviews, and inconsistency across games. Its because Hockey is more popular than its ever been internationally, I agree the standards of reffing in the Olympics has to be raised, but this problem is not new thats for sure
There is also u.s.a nhl referee’s! But canada wan’t canadian referee’s to that match so wtf? Btw i would accepted that high stick penalty if someone else give that penalty except canadian referee🤮🖕
"This is how hockey is played." yes maybe canadians…
For a goal or an on ice call to be over turned the video review has to be clear and irrefutable. That was too close to call so on ice call stands. A high stick to the face is always a penalty no matter the time or situation of the game! In the video review you can clearly see his skin move from the impact of the stick. Control your stick out there we see it all the time in the nhl
