His combination of size, skill, and confidence has made him one of the biggest stories of the tournament — but is he the biggest surprise?
On this episode, Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico break down Slafkovsky’s breakout Olympic performance, what the Canadiens coaching staff and management think about his progress, and what this means for his future in Montreal.
We also dive into Slafkovsky’s true offensive ceiling. Can he become a point-per-game player in the NHL? Is he emerging as a future cornerstone for the Canadiens rebuild? And how much can this Olympic performance accelerate his trajectory?

I definitely see Slaf being a point per game player in two or three years. He's been improving slowly but surely since he joined the team and I don't think he's reached his ceiling yet…
Slafzilla!
I’ve said it ever since we drafted him. If he can be a more consistent Max Pacioretty point wise. Say 35 goals 40 assists through the prime of his career I’d be happy. This Slaf the last 30 games has been a menace to other teams
He’s blossoming ! He may be our best forward in the long run. Can we talk about how shrewd a pick he was ? As a long time fan, I’ve never seen a roster as promising as this one.
I am sure when slaf was drafted #1 he was both excited and shocked.. the question would then start to creep in “Am I the player that the habs think I am?”…. That pressure and doubt could crush a man, but it didnt crush slaf.. He has just realized himself that he is as big, strong, and talented as any hockey player could ever hope to be, already… at 22yo he knows that this is his hockey world now and for years to come… there are other high end young talents out there yes, but he will be amongst the best in the league (top 25-50) for the next 15 years..
Next season its not impossible that the suzi/cole line might be considered the 2nd line..
Slags early season strong play didn’t reflect on the scoresheet. Often the 4th assist or screening the goalie. His entire year performance is stronger than the points per game would suggest.
When we drafted him I saw a 70-75 point ceiling but now I can see 80-85 points. 90? I dunno.
He's only 21!! By the time he is 24 or 25 he should be a point a game player. The only issue is health. It is not a problem for now but it can change quickly with big guys. Big guys depend on their body more than the quick small guys. He is not fragile but one bad injury and it could be more difficult.
But he definetely is with Demidov the shinning on Montreal' future.
Forget Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou. The player want from the Blues is Dalibor Dvorski!
