Address the real reason why! The Leafs organizational philosophy is not to develop draft picks. They always fill their spot with veterans, and are just used as call ups, they have no chance to steal a job because they are locked into contracts. When that philosophy changes, then we can have a meaningful conversation. Till then the results say it’s hasn’t worked. We’ve let guys walk for nothing, and this team was never constructed properly. Sure we have some great players, but the mix has never been right. Why is that so hard to accept based on what has happened over 9 years, how do we not question this crap when clearly it’s not working. Why do we not see Laughton as 2nd line centre with Tavares on the wing, why is there such a reluctance to try different things with what you have? Zero creativity it seems, and a big unwillingness to do what’s really needed to think long term and not short term!
