In this video, Ryan and Hunter break down the Code integrated Foil Drive mast and share real-world feedback after riding it across a variety of conditions. Filmed during a warehouse transition, this episode focuses on the design details, mounting options, efficiency gains, and overall performance benefits of running an integrated mast with Foil Drive.

The team starts at the base plate, highlighting Code’s slotted mounting channel, which makes board installation faster and less frustrating than traditional fixed-hole systems. They also support carrying the mast and base unit together, making setup and transport easier.

Two mounting heights are discussed in detail—11cm and 17cm—both on a 78cm mast. Ryan and Hunter explain how each position affects motor clearance, pumping efficiency, swell riding, and overall feel on the water. The 17cm mount is the best all-around option for most riders, while the 11cm mount is for riders who prefer keeping the motor higher out of the water during pump-heavy sessions.

A major advantage of the integrated mast design is efficiency. Ryan and Hunter explain how reduced drag allows riders to:

– Maintain speed more easily
– Pump through touchdowns without disruption
– Ride smaller, faster foil setups
– Conserve battery life

They also cover compatibility with Foil Drive Fusion and Max systems, including how the mast’s internal wiring can be adjusted for Fusion without using a barnacle. Riders who already own a Foil Drive motor will appreciate the option to purchase the mast with or without a motor, keeping costs down.

– Additional features include:
– A padded travel cover that fits the base unit and motor
– Internal storage pockets for hardware
– Quick motor installation and removal for travel

High stiffness and refined profile consistent with Code foil performance standards

After extended use in different locations and wave conditions, Ryan and Hunter agree that the Code integrated mast delivers on stiffness, efficiency, and ride quality. For riders already on Code Foils or running a Foil Drive system, this mast is positioned as a no-brainer upgrade that enhances performance, battery life, and overall enjoyment on the water.

  1. Great video. On the 11 vs 17, imagine wanting to upwind 1km in rougher conditions – what is your opinion on how rough (wave height, wind speed, etc) it would need to be before you’d really struggle on the 11 and wish you were on the 17 because it would still be doable? Thanks
