I Was WRONG About Tanner Jeannot
When the Boston Bruins signed Tanner Jeannot this offseason, I didn’t love it. I wasn’t alone. A lot of the fan base didn’t love it. Some local analysts didn’t love it. Local voices definitely didn’t love it. The reaction was loud, skeptical, and in some corners, downright dismissive.
In this video i humble myself and admit I was wrong about Tanner Jeannot.

What was your first thought of the Tanner Jeannot signing?
I was wondering when you were going to address the elephant in the room. I remember when he was signed you were livid! I didn't blame you for that based on his stats. I was waiting for him to be a disaster. More and more i became pleasantly surprised and saw you raise an eyebrow too. Apparently Sweeney saw something we didn't see.
He's the guy who should have got a few years back I like this style tough fight anybody and that's Bruins hockey
If the contract was 3 or 4 years in length, it may have not been as big as a conversation piece. 5 years just seems to be a bolded number that sticks out. Like a neon sign for a 4th liner. If we make the playoffs, that bottom line will be a problem for our opponent with the grind of a series
I thought he was good for them from his arrival. He's got that old fashion Bruins grit.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. I was also in the camp of, ‘ wait, I thought we were trying to get faster, more skilled players? Not stack the roster with more 3rd liners to be “Big Bad Bruins” expecting 5 fights a Period? Don’t get we wrong, I know you need a degree of toughness. But I get tired of the fanbase expecting the team to play like it’s the 70’s. It’s just not how the NHL wants the games officiated. I’m happy to have been SO wrong about just about all my thoughts on this deal. Sweeney looks like a genius here.
This looks like a great deal so far. You need guys like Jeannot come the Playoffs. These were the guys they were missing when they were winning all those regular season games. Either, or Both Florida Series go much differently if you’ve got guys like Kastelic and Jeannot to combat what the Panthers had in abundance.
Great video as always , Court! Can’t wait for them to get back. I’m very impressed with them so far. And for the first time in a VERY long time, I’m excited about the team’s future. I’m dying to see how Sweeney plays this deadline. I’m praying 🙏🏼 he stays the course and just makes their picks. Unless, of course, they can get a younger player with term, who’ll be here when they’re ready to be a perennial Cup contender again.
How about Ken Hodge Junior best season was with the Bruins
I was with you. I hated the signing but he has won me over. He does his job.
Im probably in the minority, I like Kastelic more than Jeanott. More checking, more grit, better PK, good on the dot.
Credit both guys, they've looked good with multiple centers including Minten and Kuraly, tilting the ice.
I didn’t hate nor love the contract Sweeney issued to Jeannot, initially. I’m still not sold, either way. He’s played a very solid season, thus far. I know this is a boring take by internet standards, but … I think Jeannot has been okay. Not a disaster. Not a stud. Is he overpaid? Debatable, honestly. If last summer’s hearsay has any validity, then there were multiple teams bidding on Jeannot, and the five-year term is what gave Boston the edge in negotiations.
Not scared say i was tanner hater. It was lot money at singing. But length of contract is what is what i wasnt happy with . Yes hes filled his role an seems to be good in locker room wich is huge team chemistry is important. So ya good for tanner an good for Boston. Great vid best BRUINS channel in universe .you an family have awesome week
Didn't like the Jeannot and Kuraly signing at first but i appreciate what they brought to the team,Kuraly is a workhorse on the PK.
I liked this signing from the start, although I was a little shocked at the contract, but I then thought about that future cap. It will look a lot better in the last 3 years for sure.
He’s doing exactly what Sweeney signed him to do. Can’t ask for much more.
That was brilliant. You nailed it.
He’s the definition of a bruin. The points may not be all there, but he’s not been a liability. He’s been pretty good objectively speaking. He is one of the tougher guys in the league, like he is a true heavyweight.
I guess the GM's do know what they are doing , That is why they are in the position they are in. This player proves it, case and point. This was a very good signing.
Excited to see what second half of season looks for the B's
I'm so glad you made this video. When they first brought him on I thought to myself that they were bringing him in for something more than just going around punching people in the face. These guys are NHL level players that are capable more than just fighting.
So I was on board. We're all Monday morning quarterbacks. But I was pretty sure Sturm could see the potential for his repurpose in this hockey club.
It’s nice having actual tough guys that can contribute again
Beating up greer def a plus
We should be asking if Elias Lindholm was worth it. Jeannot is there to take up ice time and not get scored on when he is on the ice. If he does that he does his job. If he gets a goal that is a bonus. Lindholm is being paid to get 80+ points.
I LOVE me a good bottom six guy and even I was a little nervous about the Jeannot contract! But honestly I love it more and more every day. I know they’re not cup contenders in 2026 but just THINK about where this team was not even a year ago. It’s wild how quickly they were able to shift the culture and claw their way back into relevancy again.
Also, I think their line is the one that most noticeably can shift the momentum when things aren’t going their way. How many times this season have we seen Jeannot, Kastelic, and Kuraly/Minten hop over the boards and just pulverize the other teams D with an aggressive forecheck?
I readily admit, I was a BIG NAYSAYER, when the B's first sign him. Kastelic is easily my favorite bottom 6 guy. Jeannot is a nice add. I am still not sold on the contract, tho.
I agree, Jeannot is a good fit for B's, but I hate that the team still is not setting it's sights on Top six, skill, speed, and scoring. Will his contract age well in the increased Cap? Probably. Sure, I'd keep him as a bottom 6 guy. I just think the team needs to focus on SPEED, SKILL, SCORING.
I always like tough guys on the Bruins so I wasn't against the signing. I was hopeful he would turn out half decent. It feels like he's a little better than that.
