What impressed you most about Canada’s victory in their first game over Czechia? Does Jordan Binnington have the net for Canada when there’s big games on the line? How big of a role will Cale Makar play for Canada? Should Jon Cooper even consider making line changes before Canada’s second game vs. Switzerland? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

97 on a mission
Grizzly power play by Team C 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The usual mcdavid haters have gone quiet for some reason
If I were an alien and I got dropped into the hockey game in Milano, I wouldn’t pay 30 euros for a beer, I’ll tell ya that much.
Craig… buddy Poko dots and and that tie does not not not work
Didn't notice him
Line 3 impressed me the most crazy chemistry
Wilson huge hits nobody on USA or anyone can go toe to toe with Wilson
This is the same Button that just picked the U.S. to win gold & suggested that Marner, who made a spectacular play & pass to set-up Stone's goal & who played a terrific game, should be the 13th forward!!!
Anyone who follows hockey closely knew that Cooper was going to start Binnington. He was really solid, as he really only had to make the 1st save & his strong defence corps cleared the rebounds. He was very sharp with his crisp passes up to his defencemen & forwards too.
Button's recap is best kind of reporting/sharing. It WAS an impressive show of skill, teamwork and I enjoyed the enlightenment of Button's stories of Makar and Binnington,….but,…McJeezuz,…he was DOMINANT. TSN again delivers with great insights/opinions/stories/humor.
What about MacK? A waved off goal plus a good goal on top of that.
The fellatio continues with this guy
Regarding Cale Makar, if Morrissey is out, there's no elite defencemen behind him that can best take advantage of the ability of those forwards, especially on the PP.
As for Binnington, if I'm a St Louis fan, I'd be wondering what the 🤬 is it with him that he plays well now, but not for the team that pays him $6M/yr. Yeah, his defence there isn't great, but Hofer is so much better that he's well into positive GSAx behind the same players, while Binnington has the worst GSAx in the league, by a margin.
One possibility is Binnington got lucky behind a better team. Basically the idea there is any goalie would have looked good playing behind Canada today, which is possible.
Another is that Binnington doesn't really care any more about playing for the Blues, and is just mailing it in.
The third possibility is he's a complete flake who can't be relied on, so you just have to hope you get the Binnington with a clue.
I subscribe to the first and third. Any decent goalie would have won behind Team Canada vs Czechia, and Binnington is a flake who had a decent game.
That means I'm still not confident in his play, and hope the team in front of him doesn't give opposing teams a chance, because I could see him replicating his collapses vs Winnipeg in last season's playoffs, or vs Denmark in the World's shortly after.
One month ago you said MacKinnon was the greatest player on earth.
I think McDavid and Kucherov are better
GO CANADA GO
BEST IN THE WORLD
❤❤❤
Canada's best player was without question Drew Doughty. He dominated on defense chipped in nicely offensively and awarded himself with an assist in the alter stages. That was a 10/10.
We have a great TEAM! Hockey is a team game.
Their defence is vulnerable and suspect.
No problem with offensive skill but defence players is going to hurt Canada.
Let’s just watch. One game does not a tournament make.
Saying makar is as or more important than 97 is just silly.
think it must be a joy to not play on the oilers as the greatest
I'm Canadian and I wouldn't pay that either !
This is what purses are for 😊
Horvat is almost as fast as Bobby McMann.
seems way way too much on Binnington. His playing stats are 12th among Cdn goalies… so 11 outperformed him… yet, will not get a look based on a favoritism or glass ceiling etc. The selection team needs to create a fair contest for these limited spots… to govt out these positions based on a favoritism or friendship etc etc.. (Bin plays in StL where the GM lives etc)… is not really that great. Cda has a real powerhouse team that is unlikely to be outplayed by any other team…. so fact Binn got a win should not be hyped quite so much. The selection was not based on a fair contest… but on favoritism…. -which people get away with for a time….. but it may not end as well as this guy thinks in the long run. FAIRNESS and FAIR CONTESTS are important…. as well as giving people oppty to earn a SPOT vs being EXCUDED due to wanting to give ONE the glory all the time….
THE 8 DUMBEST HOCKEY ANALYSTS ARE 1 PIERRE McGUIRE 2 CRAIG BUTTON, 3 JACK EDWARDS 4 MIKE MILLBURY 5 BOB ERREY 6 LEAH HEXTALL 7 JOHN TORTOROLLA 8 DAREEN PANG
Loyalty is the WORST reason to put someone on a team ever. I'm not saying he should be there, but Stuart Skinner has the same career save % as Binnington, and better stats this year in both % and GAA.
That cross eyed idiot in Edmonton should listen to this, and maybe he ll give some money back cause hes not in the same league as Makar.
McDavid is going for Olympic glory!!!
How good is Marner eh boys
Sidney Crosby is one of Canada's heroes .
A real humble perfect person.
Biddington, compared to other goalies I've been watching, looks slow and awkward in his positioning agility and movement. Makes me nervous and hope I'm wrong.
How about we wait till Canada plays a team that has some skill and better players?
