BOLD CALL: The likelihood of TRADING Devin Cooley to ACCUMULATE more assets for the Calgary Flames

Devin Cooley is one of the best goalies in the NHL this season, and as trade rumors continue to swirl around the Calgary Flames, should they cash in while Cooley’s value peaks, or double down on their goaltending depth for the rebuild? We explore Calgary’s assets, the impressive numbers from both Dustin Wolf and Cooley, and whether moving a red-hot netminder makes sense as the franchise eyes the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and beyond.

Plus, Matvei Gridin wins the AHL All-Star Classic, a potential Zach Whitecloud trade to the Buffalo Sabres, and sharp insights on Andrew Mangiapane’s contract via recent social media shares. Get updates on Calgary’s schedule out of the Olympic break including matchups against the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks, and hear perspectives from our other Locked On hosts from the Pacific Division. 1. I think it entirely depends what they are offering. Right now Cooley is playing well and costs peanuts to employ. The best you could hope for is probably a 2nd round pick (considering his numbers this year) but I wouldn't trade him for anything less than that. He's such a likeable guy, is fine with being demoted to the Wrangers if it happens, and has no real expectations for being here. The only downside is I think he's outshining Dustin Wolf right now. If you were to trade him, that might be a reason you're considering it as well.

  2. Cooley has the best save percentage in the league….worst thing we could ever do. If he keeps going like this you could get a #1 center and 2 firsts for him

  3. The play is to trade the 7th round pick, who has overachieved to this point. Keep Cooley, he has outplayed Wolf all year. If the start numbers were switched, they would be in the playoff race. Wolf is what his numbers say he is. Do we want mediocrity or a championship calibre team?

  4. Hooley dooley i think we better keep Cooley! Don't touch the goalies, tell the forwards to be better

  5. Goalie trades provide very underwhelming returns generally. If popatop the starter who they brought in from the KHL ever can get his head around the NHL game, you can start playing with the idea of bringing him back into the fold. Cooley has a super cheap contract, can win games, the team plays the same and doesnt feel like they are playing infront of the backup. Wolf vibes well with him. Look somewhere else for trades
