The Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Rangers 2-0 on February 5, 2026. Brandon Bussi made 16 saves, Andrei Svechnikov and Jordan Staal scored goals and the Canes extended their points streak to 10 straight in a 2-0 win at Madison Square Garden. Andrei scored at 6:26 of the first period coming right off the bench to corral a loose puck at the blue line and beat Jonathan Quick for his 21st goal of the season. Svech has 9 goals in his last 10 games. Staal’s 15th of the season, into an empty net, was his 5th in the last 7 games. Nikolaj Ehlers’ great defensive play to take the puck away from Vincent Trocheck created the chance and the Canes head into the Olympic Break with an 8 point lead over the Penguins in the Metropolitan Division.

I didn't think this would be a nailbitter tonight, but Quick made some great saves. Happy the Canes won. I hope everyone gets through the Olympics safely without injury, and I hope the team, especially Bussi, has the mojo going still when they get back. Hopefully, the Front Office gets the team that final piece they need to get to the promised land, but I'm not holding my breath. I think the asking price is too high for anyone usefull.
Canes!! 🥳
Dear Olympics, please fix Freddie. Thanks!
No, it definitely isn't the best blue line ever.
Carolina is currently the 1 seed in the East.
