On Sunday night, the Vancouver Canucks began their preseason in Seattle against the Kraken with a prospect heavy lineup. In this video, I will show the game highlights and share my analysis!
LekkerimΓ€ki showed a bit better in some moments without the puck compared to last year. While also displaying a bit more physicality but definitely needs more seasoning in the AHL before he can make the jump to the NHL. There were still moment where he got lost while defending.
Manchini's looking like he improved even more during the off season. I agree, he could very well turn out to be the steal coming back in the Miller trade. Great start!
We have to be looking at Mancini over Forbert at this point. He's a big, strong RH shot defenseman who can skate and shoot the puck. I think that a Mancini/D-Petey combo would be solid, or if you want to spread the youth go D-Petey/Myers on 3rd pair and Pettersson/Mancini second pair. The Canucks almost have to many options for D-Men right now, which is a good problem to have. I also felt that Klimovich looked really solid on the ice tonight.
Sherwood, Cootes, and Mancini are dogs and boy Iβm happy theyβre all succeeding right now. Hereβs hoping Braeden Cootes lives up to that 2C potential if not higher.
I'm very disappointed with Lekk. We saw him debut at the young stars tournament last year and he was incredible in his first game. After that, he's looked pretty bad. I don't know how his game has consistently gotten worse every year. When he has the opportunity to shoot it's great but otherwise he always gets burned or stripped of the puck. People keep saying "give him time to develop" but we've been saying this for 2 years now and it really doesn't look like he's any different of a player than he was last year. It's a big problem when Cootes is 3 years younger and already looks more NHL ready than him. Can't blame him being sheltered either because he's been given opportunity after opportunity to play in the top 6. And this is coming from a big Lekk fan.
Hey man you got a new subscriber. Hard to find a channel that just reports news and also has talks and speculation based on reality and not just posting click bait. I agree with all your points. Mancini almost looks to have leap frogged d Petey he looks so confident with the puck. I think willander would be better served in the ahl for at least half a season or more. Lekkerimaki who I am high on seems to just float and look for someone to get him the puck which isnβt good enough. He seems more comfortable at the ahl level he needs to get go after picks and win battles on his own if heβs gonna survive at the nhl level.
I would of loved it if you evaluated all the prospects. Mynio for example would be way stock down. He was a -2 in both the scrimmage and this last game.
Hoglander comes back, does well with a few points off the bat. He and a defenseman (D Petey? Mancini? ) are traded for a centre. Mactavish ? Raty goes down to Abby but comes up with Chytl goes out.

Which players stood out to you?
1:18 I blame maynio here doesnβt even try to get a stick in the lane in fact he moves out of the way to give him more space
Kraken had what 60-70% of their main roster and canucks had roughly 20%.
This just giving young guys a taste

I thought Lekkerimaki was sharp in the internal match. But he seems to need more confidence. AHL for him.
Solid analyzes without the usual hyperbole, thank you.
I enjoyed your video on Vancouver's pre-season game. Looking forward to more post game videos.

It's been a number of years now. Young is not an NHL player.
Well done young man!
Concise, informative and no BS headlines.
Very refreshing.
Looking forward to more from you this season. π

Great vid! I'm super bullish on mancini so glad to hear he had a good showing. Hope the same for alrikkson when he plays.
And the Kraken wins!
Gonna be a fun I-5 rivalry this year. I sense both teams breaking out.

very good analysis. i'm looking forward to the new season, but getting smoked by the Kaken is not encouraging.
