Could Patrik Laine Return to Winnipeg?

Patrik Laine seems to be on his way out of Montreal, as the Habs look to clear cap space ahead of the trade deadline. With the Habs looking to sweeten the deal, would Winnipeg be a good landing spot for Laine?

  1. Need that 2nd round pick back, if it works it works if it doesn’t we got nothing to lose anyways

  2. I was a fan ..I wouldn’t be mad at a reunion..seems the cost would be minimal n perhaps he could regain his scoring touch..he’s had a rough time since he left maybe his return could be a blessing for him

  3. 100% even if it's just rest of year he can play top6 raise his stock. Pp1 with talented players then choose leave if he wants or stay.

I also feel if we can get a 1b/2c even if means trading the 1st we should. If its not going to be Mckenna/Stenberg.
I dont see Lawrence/Malhotra being better than Yager. How many 1st rounders dont pane out in past drafts.
    Getting a Thomas,Wright,Mercer types.

They should throw in 3rd as sweetner. No retain. And jets should continue trade Nino,Namestnikov,Pearson,Koepke,Lambert,Schenn,Stanley.
Most important thing is getting a 2C/1B.

I dont think Yager will ever be a 1 and even a really good 2. Guys in draft like Lawrence/Malhotra/ i dont see being better than Yager. If you can get somehow guys like Thomas,Mercer,Wright,Michkov,(Pettersson retained)even guys like Danielson/Kasper its worth it.
If we were getting a top 2 pick maybe keep it but potential is 1 thing how many dont pane out every year. I still would want to come back next year and give the core a chance mixed with youth.

I dont even see a center in this draft being better than ConnorGeekie,NateDanielson. Or upgrade and trade down.

  4. My son still has a poster of Laine in his bedroom. If MTL eats 50% of his contract and we get picks (#2 pick?), I wouldn't be too mad at taking him back.

  5. If we can get something for laine and not give up anything then sure. A 2nd would be good but if they would pay highly to take the full contact then i would do that as well. It is the season anyway not forced to resign him

  6. I got the feeling he was poison in the dressing room. He just seems to mope around when he doesn’t get his way. No way would I like this. I wouldn’t pay him to carry the puck pail.

  7. A lot of players prime days happen in a Jets jersey and they never find it elsewhere. Laine is the top example. One my favourite Finns

  8. He would definitely put buns in the seats. They really owe him, considering how terribly he was treated by the coach, management and especially wheeler.

  9. When wheeler stopped holding his hand what happened? But I guess that was toxic of wheeler, now we have Lowry and things are great right?

  10. Thing about Laine is, The Peg is where he had most of his success. I think he’d be happy to return and Jets fans would welcome him back. Just nothing too long term until he returns to form.

  11. To Be honest nothing ever went right for him except for when he was in Winnipeg. He was mature and pushed his weight too much but is older now.

  12. Patrick Laine doesn’t deserve to come back to Wpg. He’s a passenger on any team you put him on! He’s lazy. He doesn’t bring anything to a team! If he put the effort he could be a great player but I don’t believe that he wants to!

  13. To all of those that think Laine was terrible in Winnipeg…. 30+ goals in Winnipeg even though he got 2nd line time. take him… shut him down for the year… let him get healthy grab a pick for next year and lets run with this already! Wish to debate my opinion, I'm glad to entertain this, as I'm sure a lot of you are more well versed than I.
