FULL EP: https://youtu.be/4VYPrWQ27xU

If anyone knows what it takes to make it in the NBA, it’s Andre Miller. After 17 seasons running the point and now experience as a G-League coach, Dre brings a rare perspective on the game. In this clip, he breaks down the evolution of basketball training and what players today need to succeed.

  1. As a shorter player, Miller and his back to the basket game was my guy! Learned all his moves!

  2. American players are not getting left behind they're getting repositioned no non-american player can play amazing defense like we can

  3. I think theres a time and place for training. I also believe it depends on what youre working on. I think the tiktok stuff has ruined the reputation of training

  4. I played one year of high school basketball. Ended up getting a scholarship playing NAIA ball. Twice an all-conference player. Entire four-year degree cost less than $12K out of pocket. Get all the trainers you want. Tall, strong, athletic, and hungry can eat into those lessons.

  5. Training practice hardly translates to any sport, seriously. Also training is harder than the real thing too. Because usually in training you’re conditioning a lot by running and doing push ups and sit ups and moving quick on special moves when in the real thing, there’s many boring walking around moments, boxing, basketball, etc. that’s why I agree practicing on the real thing makes you better really, 5 on 5 basketball, boxing match exhibition, etc. Here’s another good example. If you’re a troop in the U.S. Armed Forces, in this case, the army branch I’ll talk about, you have a PT Test every six months if you’re active duty, push ups, sit ups and a 2 mile run. It’s supposed to keep you in shape and keep your endurance as a soldier while really if you’re deployed you MIGHT, keyword MIGHT have to run 2 miles in like 16 minutes for example and won’t HAVE to do push ups while in combat. There’s many moments where you’ll just have to run like 50 yards, then you’ll be resting on your belly for an hour. Sure, hardcore training makes your endurance better BUT in the real games and deployments, it’s usually not used very much, if any.

  6. Matt we should do a story about when in jr high I scored the first 4 points of the game on you & you got a quick foul, then you started cherry picking at half court the rest of the game 😂😂😂. We had never seen it before & didn't know what to do. We asked coach if we should start a fight.

  7. If just playing the game without any training worked then the Europeans wouldnt have taken over the NBA since AAU players play so many games a week.

  8. This is part of the not so subtle racism against black kids in the game. Show out skills but don’t “learn” the game. Try to “be like Mike!” If you ain’t all that, the scouts and coaches are making all the money off your non career! 🤨

  9. they teaching these kids INPUTS lmao like its a video game. i see a kid with a STRAIGHT line to the basket but he wants to "hesi to euro rip spin pump spike crossover to pass fake to game winner "😂😂😂😂FOR NO REASON lmaoooo

  10. Thats why these guys weren’t great and will never push greatness. Michael Jordan rhe best of all time had a trainer. Kobe has a trainer and used to invite other players to come train. Let’s use the modern era, Tatum, SGA, Brown, Ant etc has trainers. Let’s talk brand new players in the league coming up, Wemby had a trainer, Cooper Flag had a trainer all throughout high school. The right specific, systemized training will always be good in any sport. You don’t get good just running 5v5.

  11. Young players should be begging to learn from Andre Miller, to play 17 years in the league is super rare.
