I've seen Bedard play in one international tournament as an adult and he was AWFUL. The worst player on the ice in every game he got to play before being scratched.
It’s absolutely crazy that the guy that got the game tying goal in the 4 Nations final game (and eventual Conn Smythe winner of the season) isn’t on it. Like, that finals game was going EXACTLY the same as the game they played against the US before (where Canada scored first and then let in 2 and couldn’t find a second goal) until he scored that tying goal (which was the only other regulation goal they scored, didn’t score again until overtime and after they gave up several grade-A chances).
Binnington makes the team because of how he performed that game, but not the other guy that made it possible for Canada to even get the game winning goal? That’s some inexplicable nonsense.
Schiefele and Chyrun. Bennett third is say. Schiefele would jump through a windshield to win gold at the Olympics. Chyrun is just better and more fit than some of the D choices. It's a game of matchups though so what do I know?
My personal rule is if you're going to say "how is this guy not on the team?" then you have to also say who you take off the team to make room for your guy.
Monty should have gotten called up for Canada. I know he wasnt great before but hes been so good recently and its not even a one off. Especially with how shaky Binnington is.
Thank goodness Sam Bennett is not playing in this Olympic tournament. That means all the goalies will be safe from "accidental"hits to the head while the goalies are in the blue paint sorry for this but as a leaf fan I am still bitter about that "accidental " hit to the head on Anthony stolarz. Screw Sam Bennett
Team Canada and Team USA feel like they're building a team for a Tuesday night home game against San Jose while every other country is building for a best on best tournament with Olympic rules.
Don't be shocked if at least one of the US or Canada doesn't medal. Both might not even medal. I certainly don't see them being prepared to win Gold. I'm more comfortable picking Finland than those two.

Bedard was top 5 in scoring before he got hurt I believe…had he remained healthy it would have been pretty spicy to leave him off

I would say Scheifele but I get they already got plenty of scoring, seems he's always snubbed though.
What does chychurn have to do. Seriously look at the stats and he plays physical. You can't tell me Travis f'n Sanheim is a better choice 😂

Guys, it's IIHF, not NHL. Sam Bennett would get 10+ penalty minutes every night at the olympics.
