Did Sabres GM Kevyn Adams Deserve to Be Canned? Nuff Said with Bob Koshinski and Mike Harrington

This week on Nuff Said with Bob Koshinski, Bob is joined by longtime Buffalo News Sabres beat reporter Mike Harrington for a no-nonsense, hockey-heavy conversation Bills fans and puck heads won’t want to miss.

The focus starts with the biggest question surrounding the Buffalo Sabres front office:
Did Kevyn Adams deserve to be fired — and was replacing him with Jarmo Kekalainen the right move for the franchise?

Bob and Mike dig into the timing, the pressure from ownership, and what this change means for the Sabres’ long-term vision.

From there, the conversation shifts to the ice. With the Olympics looming, the guys look ahead to Buffalo’s expected post-break push and whether this roster is built to make legitimate playoff noise. They also break down the biggest storylines and matchups heading into Winter Olympics hockey, handicapping contenders, dark horses, and the players to watch.

Smart analysis. Real perspective. Zero fluff.
That’s Nuff Said.

  1. Great episode. I saw the podcast with Barnaby and while I remember the incident, I didn't realize how divided the team was.

  2. Mike was spot-on: the infamous palm-trees-press-conference spelled the end for Kevyn Adams.

It just took them awhile to figure it out.

Oooh, ahhhhh, Sabres on the warpath…

  3. Yes. Many years ago.

Look, GMKA built this roster and there's no avoiding that. It's not so much what he did, but what he didn't do while in the big chair. No big moves when it mattered. The Reinhart trade still hasn't panned out. Perhaps most important, he was an abysmal communicator, especially with fans. He inspired no faith in the locker room or from the fans.

  4. Yes, six years of playing like dog shit still playing like dog shit at the time he was fired important to point out hasn’t accomplished a thing other than you started in dead last six years later you’re still in dead last
You have drafted well, but of course you’re picking top of the heap every year. I would hope you could run into a couple of good players blindfolded he’s also made a few good trades but what he hasn’t done has made the move that’s put them over the top unwilling part with his draft picks so afraid they’re gonna be great players somewhere else you can’t keep all your picks. He never figured that out.
Then he hands out contracts unwarranted, and the whole league does it so don’t get me wrong UPL who three years ago had about a three week stretch where he was terrific and virtually. Nothing else his entire career, including the minor leagues.
The belief in particular in UPL as some type of starting goaltender in the NHL was comical. What made it worse was the belief that not only is he a starter but he’s a top-tier starter and should be handed the starting job repeatedly including this year where all he’s done is screamed at you I can’t do it and shown you not good enough Alex Lyon is the reason they’ve turned it around and UPL has played better, but if he doesn’t get injured, they don’t go with Alex Lyon and they don’t win games not due to injury just due to their undying love UPL Lyon while playing well sits for an entire month for no reason after winning the starting job then has to win it again when they put him back in that is some crazy shit
You couldn’t get Alex Tuch signed Quinn for the number seven pick overall I believe hasn’t developed to this point Peyton Krebbs the crown jewel of the Jack Eichel trade has carved out a role but it’s as a fourth line center. Your top two defense pairings are playing 26 minutes a night because as awesome as Dan has been in the Pat trade, Kesselring has been a disaster you handed out a contractor Jordan Greenway, for no reason less than a year later you’re forced to stare at it so overall, yeah, he deserve to be fired. Unable to make the moves that move a team ahead not unable unwilling. One year they finish the point out is all Steven moves were to bring in a 37-year-old Johnson who couldn’t play anymore and embarrassed himself unfortunately and Kyle Clifton. They have
Team full of brats who were the best player on their team coming up poor work habits scratch that no work habits somehow think things should be handed to us. How many times have we heard them after the locker room when they’re playing a lower in team thought it was gonna be easy you’ve lost for 15 years and you’re thinking you’re better than other teams. How in the hell is that in your locker room? This particular group has demonstrated can’t listen to the coach won’t listen to the coach. They want to play a certain way focused on getting them points so they can get paid and that’s the way they played for how long.
Lindy. Still knows how to win He didn’t become stupid, so for reasons unexplained they decided to buy in and haven’t looked back. Talent level has never been the issue playing the NHL way has always been the issue.
The past three months, they haven’t been riding a red hot goaltender. They haven’t been on the backs of a player on a heater. No one‘s having a career year. No one‘s playing out of their ass. They just have a certain recipe to the way they play that essentially works against every team or works on most and gives you a chance on all the three headed goaltending situation due the injuries has worked like a charm as compact as the schedule is and as many minutes as your top four defense men are playing I do wonder if they’re gonna grind them into dust they need to go out and get at least one more defense not only do they need just an adequate third pair if there were ever an injury to one of the four they’re fucked and you can’t have the hopes of your season riding on the fact you didn’t get a depth defenseman

  5. I hate when they bring up the Sabres record versus this team or that team. They’ve been dog shit for 15 years. Their record against everyone is gonna suck, but in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter these guys aren’t those teams

Why would Dan give a rat ass with the record is in Carolina or power or Byrum or Benson or Dahlin or mcCloud or Zucker

  6. Ya I agree the palm tree comment was worthy of getting fired. Not doing anything a few years ago when being a point out was it for me.

  7. I always hated Brad May, I was at draft, terrible first rd pick, he had 2 playoff goals in his entire Sabre career, I was always so sick of hearing about May Day goal, he didn’t win that series the hall of fame players did.
