Looks to me like a fire sale…what bothers more is all this talk about picks, they are great to get but were talking usually a year or two for many of them to be ready for the NHL…….you do know Leas have to ice a team next year right?…if your trading a bunch of regulars, what do the fans get next season?, they will be paying a lot to watch a sub standard team lose a lot of games…..i think management should be changed, there are smarter people pushing cofee at Tim's right now.

May someone from another fandom, comment- I have posted this before as far back in 2022 when Austin was nearing the end of his first contract. When Toronto foolishly gave all that money to five players they had NOTHING left for ANY support help – no defenders, no role players, no pests, no grit. The Maple Leafs have been all regular season offensive and nothing for the post season. Unfortunately many of us outside of the GTA saw that 34 seemed to care more for his stats & his contracts than the team getting a trophy. And since the Leafs are corporate owned, the fact that the core five brought in tons of revenue that was all they looked at – not what & how the core produced. Toronto has chosen a steady stream of butts in the seats and sacrificed championships. If, (and that's a big IF), Toronto had bit the bullet and moved away from 34 in 2022-23, there would have been $$ for a balanced supporting cast, with better post-season performance. PLUS it could gotten prospects that today would be entering the lineup to pick up the slack from the aging core. Sorry but that how it looks from the outside.

So the one team I wonder could they pick up McMann is the San Jose Sharks. and theyre really the only team I can see in a position to give Toronto a 1st and ill explain why.
McMann IF worth a 1st it wouldnt be a high 1st it would be a later first from a team expected to go deep into the playoffs and potentially win. teams like Colorado,Vegas< Dallas, Edmonton , to lesser extents minnisota and tampa. all dont hold their 2026 1sts. and thats when the leafs would want the pick fro to get that asset in their system asap. or ahve it worth more at the draft to make a big trade. and all the teams who hold those top picks are not gunna tarde for a rental , their reuilding . except San Jose. who doesnt neccisrily need a late 1st when they still have thir own , not to mention they are looking for some sandpaper upfront with defensive ability they alredy aquired sherwood. i wonder if they look for a bit of an upgrade on phillip kurachev on that 3lw?
If not from them then you have to look further up the draft order to a whole nother group of teams that are likely in the 20-24 range and i just dont think hes worth one of those types of picks.

A team going for McMann can still have cap space to go outand make another move and thats in it self worth a first. Especially if the leafs retain.
Stop trading players you will need going forward. Trading for picks just kicks the can down the road as picks don't have an impact for years to come if at all. This team is not as bad as their record since this year is an anomaly with injuries and the schedule. Trading away players for picks and trading picks for players has been their history and it has not worked. Try keeping a TEAM together for a few years will work as it has for many other teams. Stop the panic moves.

You simply can’t guarantee any draft or prospect in return, but McMann is solid winger can help the Leafs going forward. Trade Stolarz, Reilly (if he’ll wave his no-trade), Domi, Carlo (although he’s playing well lately), Macelli, but not McMann! They need his speed and size.
