The San Diego Gulls erupted for seven goals in a 7-4 victory over the Henderson Silver Knights on Wednesday night at Pechanga Arena San Diego, extending their win streak and closing out the season series strong.
San Diego jumped out early with first-period goals from Justin Bailey and Ryan Carpenter, then answered every Henderson push throughout a back-and-forth second period. Yegor Sidorov and Sasha Pastujov found the net before the Gulls took control for good late in the frame. Matthew Phillips led the way offensively with a three-point night, finishing with a goal and two assists, while Pastujov added a goal and an assist of his own.
Phillips netted the game-winning goal early in the third period before Roland McKeown and Noah Warren sealed the win with insurance tallies. Calle Clang turned aside 33 shots to earn the victory in net. Phillips, Pastujov, and Bailey were named the game’s three stars as the Gulls capped the night with a complete offensive effort in front of the home crowd.
