  1. I’m a leafs fan and I think matthews will show up for the Olympics as captian and I will be cheering for him to as long as he’s not playing Canada

  2. As a Bruins fan I respect Matthews. He definitely takes a lot of the blame for everything but it cant all be on him. Even though he's the Leaf's captain I feel like he hasn't been able to show leadership capabilities because it's too much for one person to carry on Toronto.

  3. Well, his really lackluster defense did leave McDavid open to win the 4 nations last year. Being a center is much more than taking puck drop, if he wants to bum around the ice he should be a winger

  4. Matthew’s is the biggest bust of the decade. Highest paid player and not even in the top 50 for pointsπŸ˜….

  5. Guess what team I'm fan of: 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  6. Matthews is soft, lacks leadership, physically is awful, lazy, selfish, babyish, and doesn’t stand up for his teammates. These are all traits that captains shouldn’t have, Matthews is the worse captain in the league and I think lost Maple Laughs fans would agree.

  7. You have to realise these are young men. They are forced to mature early. Big one for me is that you don't know what they feel of him in the dressing room

  8. Giving the C to someone based on goals is the problem. Mathews is the least captain "y" player possibly in the league. If your not captain material without your goals your not with them either.

  9. At least Matthews hasn't walked out on his team and hightailed it back to the states when the going got rough like Quinn Hughes did to the Canucks. Comparable because they are both American players who were named captains in a high pressure Canadian market. Wearing the C for the Canucks doesn't even compare to the pressure of being the Leafs captain. So kudos to Matthews at least for not buckling under the pressure.

  10. Maples leafs are the ny jets of hockey, ownership controls enough media to blame everyone else but bad management

  11. When a highly pressured team has a long title drought, it’s easy for the fanbase to scapegoat players, coaches, and managers. Yes, Leafs fans might have a point, but I see nothing but scapegoating in Toronto, and it’s only making things worse.
