  1. Rutherford is a near senile old man. This management team is arguably the worst in history given what they’ve done. They absolutely dismantled the team.

  2. I clearly recall a comment during the bubble season that seems prophetic. After losing to Vegas it was like, 'oh well, nice try, time to rebuild.'
This is a team that still featured Roussel and Eriksson. So, whoops? A wee little bit of wasted cap space for a team to form a long run, right?
Keep in mind, the Canucks didn't pick up anyone of worth in the draft since Hughes, so the pieces they had available were all installed.
Conclusion? The Olli Juolevi draft choice sunk this group before they even got a shot. Tkachuk was the obvious piece they were short of, but even that might not have brought the cup, because ultimately you can't just go years and years of zero-for drafts and still expect to compete.
Could you imagine Rutherford in Carolina or Pittsburgh picking up Juolevi over Tkachuk? I can't.
The 2024 season was an overrated swan song in all hindsight. 'Catching teams by surprise' until the all-star break, when the bottom fell out.
The Canucks HAVE to lie to the fans in order to sell tickets, and the truth is quite depressing.

  3. Trader Jim… took a playoff off team. And completely dismantled it. No playoffs for 2 years… traded away our best players… with little or nothing in return. Demko is locked up for 2 more years… yet he hasn't played a full season in 2 years. I often ask myself… why am I still a fan of this team.

  4. I could only imagine how good Vancouver would have been if they would have gotten Conor bedard. Wow how things have changed

  5. The Canucks didn't start their rebuild with the Bo Horvat trade. That was just them doubling down on Rutherford's gross incompetence and calling it a "rebuild" in hindsight. They flushed away top draft picks like they were allergic to them just like Benning did. Rutherford forced the Canucks into a rebuild just by being terrible at his job. He shouldn't be allowed to go near live mics or team rosters.

  6. As long as Quin was playing they thought we were a contender. Traded away almost all equity for players they let walk. One failure after another. I was a bit sold they might have a chance but also knew how fragile this team really is. And it fell off the tracks coming out of the chute. Much of that success was because of Zadorov and Cole. Schenn was also great when we had him and lost all toughness to fight back and every NHL team knows it. Doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results. But to say they were doing a rebuild is crazy. I think Quin read the tea leaves and they were forced to do something and greatly undervalued Quins net worth. This team is in bad shape and fans want to much from this team right now. They are weak. Not necessarily bad. Young weak and little offense.
