Boomer, Pinder & Rhett react to the news that Jonathan Huberdeau will miss the rest of the season after suffering a hip injury and is set to undergo hip resurfacing surgery in March, with expectations of a full recovery ahead of the 2026–27 campaign. The guys break down what this means for the Calgary Flames moving forward after another disappointing year for Huberdeau, who finishes the season with 10 goals and 25 points in 50 games. 1. I'm going to be real mean here, but I actually think that the Flames would be better off if he never played Hockey again. It gets us out from under some of his cap hit and a chance to actually build a team that can compete. Huberdeau was an experiment that failed, no idea why we signed him long term but we can't really do anything about it now. Unless of course he can't play. I'm not saying I want him to be hurt and unable to complete his contract, but from just a team standpoint it might be better if he is

  2. Well, that might explain part of his bad season. But those injuries are tough to come back from. Wishing him a speedy recovery for Huby.

  3. There will be no trades. The flames dont trade players with term. Now that huberdeau is out I cant see ownership allowing Conroy to trade coleman or kadri unless they ask for a trade. I hope im wrong but history tells me they wont trade players they dont have too. Reactive not proactive

  4. He was done when the season started. If your Huby you probably don't care at this stage and are happy to have the rest of the year off.

  5. Mobility and overall comfort is going to be so much better but it’s a matter if he can get his confidence back and do enough work to maintain healthy hips in the future but I think his performance must have been extremely impacted by this all season anyway. He will either come back better or never be the same

  6. This is a Birmingham Hip resurfacing.
Had mine done in 2019; I’m still playing ball hockey at 51 now, no issues!
    Highly recommend.

  7. Ragging on Huberdeau. Clearly he hasn't had the speed he had last year, still gets almost 20 minutes a night and playing through an injury that requires THIS level of intervention. Classy.

  8. Here is a sad fact is the owner ship will bu8y him out which will cost this team 5mill or more for the next 7 or so yrs and then he wsill sign with another team for ahlf the price thankx to Flames and he will then produce like he should have with the Flames

  9. I hope he'll be okay. It would be nice to get him back, re-energized, but I'm more concerned that he has a good surgery. A normal life with his family is more important than playing hockey.
