The NHL doesn't like Edmonton. Is anyone surprised? The Oilers have the two best players in the league, but can't build a supporting cast around them. The league has been after the Oilers ever since they piled up first overall picks. It's the NHL's fault. They created this mess. A Canadian commissioner would be better than an American one. Most players are Canadian. The on-ice officials are always against Edmonton. Just look at all the key games in the last few years in the playoffs. Every time the Oilers start to play weak, the on-ice officials chirp in and make bad calls. It's all way too political.

You have two playoffs to show McDavid that he should stay, and you are serious about building a winner. He gave them an incredible bargain on that contract, and now they have to match it, with commitment.
What we have here are 2 wrongs. Bowman and Knoblauch. And we all know 2 wrongs don't make a right. Raw data shows without McDavid, Leon, and Bouchard, the Oilers would be dead last in the NHL. Why is anyone surprised Leon said what he said in the presser? He clearly made the decision that he has no interest in staying at the Bowman Knoblauch Hotel any longer. He's checked out as I'm sure every star on the Oilers has checked out. Considering Bowman's checkered past it was a big ask from the beginning for Katz and Jackson to tell Oiler fans to look the other way and give Bowman a 2nd chance when no other NHL team would. And Oiler fans did. But don't mistake tolerance for forgiveness. Now Oiler fans have every excuse to tell Bowman that he can take his checkered past back to his living room and watch hockey on his flat screen TV at home rather than from the executive chair in a comfy GM office.
The Oilers will never win a Stanley cup unless they buy into a defense first system. Conor needs to lead it. Stop giving a crap about stats and start caring about winning games. They cant out score their mistakes. Play better D and you will get better results easy.
Skinner became the focus of all things Edmonton has as a problem but the facts are, it was NEVER just Skinner. His last 5 games in Pittsburgh, he's 3-1-1, 1.61 GAA and a .937 SA. Tell us again how it was Skinner.

Coaching like a junior hockey coach. It works when the top 6 produce. But the issue is the the bottom 6 never develop into anything.
The way the Oilers operate why not run McDavid as center on line 1 and 3 and Drai. center on line 2 and 4 ,get same amount of ice but might help bottom six.
Over playing the stars cost them the cup in both finals….this is a coaching issue
With Edmonton the narrative hasn't changed since day one of the McDavid/Draisaitl era: the goalies are no good and the bottom six aren't producing. Maybe some Oilers coach will eventually figure out that playing your top six offensive minded players 20-25 minutes a game is not a recipe for good defense or team success. When a player only gets a few short shifts every period he's got to make an impression. That means getting on the scoresheet, and in the NHL that means taking risks that lead to turnovers and other defensive lapses.
The bottom 6 hasn’t been “not outstanding”, it’s been awful. I would be surprised if they have 10 goals combined
The second pair D is trash. If you have Bouchard on 1d you need a rock solid shut down 2nd pair and Nurse Walman ain't it. Same problem that never gets fixed.
Everybody on earth has known goaltending wasn’t the problem, other than the brainless pile-on hoard. Oilers have ruined so many goalies with a bad team system and shoddy defence for decades.
Fire Stan Bowman!!!! The guys a bum that's living on dad's reputation. Nothing but crappy deals. Pittsburgh has all kinds of cap space. Yet there was NO salary retention for Jarry. Leaving us hand cuffed again. And 3.75 for Frederic? Seriously? Bowmans gotta go!!!! While they're at it dump Nurse.
Come on Luke. Every team has been uo and down the last month. We have been to 2 straight finals and 3 conference finals in a row. Dont we get the pass of "lets see what happens in the playoffs".
