It looks to be a very fair trade. Trouba was Winnipeg s 3rd best defenseman and he is probably going to make 6 and 1/2 or 7 million for the Rangers Plus he did not want to be there anyway
I think both teams won. As a Jets fan we get a roster defenseman to fill in some gaps and the free space can bring back Chiarot or Tanev. NYR you are getting a good defenseman Trouba in high pressure situations tends to crumble and make errors. So if you pair him up with a stay at home defender.
Jets are probably going to make either a signing or another trade that has significance! Nice vid grav

The best part of this is that the Rangers got that 20th overall pick by trading Kevin Hayes to the Jets. Now Hayes is no longer a Jet. So the Rangers got rid of the giant price tag of Hayes, got rid of possibly their worst defenseman in exchange for an All-star defenseman and Brendan Lemieux. Yup. We won that trade. Let's go Rangers!
Giving away a 20th overall pick in a rebuild isnāt smart. I do think it was a good trade for both teams BUT, does Winnipeg really need a 20th overall pick? A first round pick is a great opportunity to help a rebuild but instead you trade for a 25 year old which is young but Pionk is 2 years longer, can be a second pairing dmen, and he had 26 points, calling him bad cause of one season imo is complete B.S., Trouba is also getting worse and Pionk can get way better and potentially be a 1st pairing dmen in the future, Pionk also has a very nice body for a defencemen, and he is quicker than Trouba, hope you agree with my opinion, nice video Grav, can you make a video on – The future of ___ maybe the Hurricanes or Pens. This is a rushed trade that a seasoned GM shouldn't be making. This wasn't a deadline deal and it's a trade the Rangers didn't need. If you look at Boston looking for one to replace Chara or New Jersey that just need a top defenceman. Both would of given more. sad part is the jets are not in a rebuild and now are both short a shutdown top defenseman and a centre whilst still pushing for playoffs. Improper asset management and the team suffers cause of it good luck explaining this to Wheeler and the lads
one of those trades that will probably work out for both teams as winnipeg got a first rounder which they did not have.. rangers will like it now but it should also work out for winnipeg if you look further down the road…if you take a quick look at mock drafts to get a feel of who they could get..defenceman Moritz Seider, Thomas Harley …something like that ..not bad remember trouba did not want to stay in winnipeg so i like trade for both teams its just a matter of when you look at it 2019 or 2025

Not happy at all with this trade….. I think the jets could have gotten a bit more and it's gonna kill me to see TrouBAE in a NYR jersey. I am happy with the 1st round pick tho
As a Rangers fan I would have liked to see us draft someone like Hƶglander, Dorofeyev, Heinola, Bjƶrnfot or Seider at 20 but lets hope this turns out a good move.
Pionk was ok but not for the first pair. He had to eat to many minutes and thatās why in my opinion his play and numbers dropped. Beyond that šš» to Gorton for pulling this one off

Great move Pionk struggled through much of the season, Trouba will be a top 4 guy on this team possibly a top 2. Only being 25 he has more years to develop and hit his prime around 27-30. I would say the only downside is probably offering him 7.5 million of that cap when he hasn't proven to be an absolute elite defenseman

I think it would have been good to touch on how the Rangers got the 20th pick in the first place. They traded 2 months worth of Kevin Hayes for the pick and Brendan Lemieux. So, basically the Rangers traded 2 months of Hayes & Pionk for Trouba and Lemieux. Also it should be noted that Trouba although he didn't have a no trade clause, informed the Jets that he would not sign an extension with them or most of the potential suitors. Part of Trouba's preference has to do with his Fiancee's career path. Kelly Tyson is a Medical student and prefers to be in a large metropolitan city. The Jets had no leverage…
In defense on Neal Pionk (Pee-onk) he's a good skater with good speed and great offensive puck moving ability making him very valuable on the Power play.
He is only 23 and still has some time to improve in his weaker areas which are very weak, his defensive zone play and decision making in the D-zone. He is a liability in this regard and why he received a lot of flak from rangers fans and hockey fans alike.
Rangers fans like myself are happy to see him go because we had a surplus of young defensive prospects that had better defensive awareness and the offensive ability Pionk showed. (Tony DeAmgelo, Fox, K'Andre Miller (NCAA) Nils Lundkvist (SHL) and Hajek (AHL)). Pionk was just our odd man out and we turned him into a potential top pairing defensemen. I believe Pionk still holds top 4 defensemen potential and is definitely a Power play specialist.
Now if my NY Rangers add PANARIN & Draft KAKKO, we will be contending again in the near future. If we can also move half of any out of Smith, Staal or Shatty's contracts we will be in even better shape moving forward. Such a great Trade for the Rangers & an OK trade for the Jets. They could've probably gotten much more from other teams. Let's GO RANGERS.

Lol, this video aged about as poorly as one can. Neal Pie-onk and Heinola look poised to be NHL top4 dmen for a while and Trouba is now behind Fox and Deangelo on the right side.
Looking back at this yeah Jets won this trade hands down
