Spencer Stastney just picked up his first point as an Edmonton Oiler, but how high is his ceiling on this blue line?
Tyler and Liam break down Stastney’s offensive upside, his skating and first-pass ability, and why being “unnoticeable” can actually be a huge compliment for an NHL defenceman. They also look at how he fits into the Oilers’ fast-paced system and whether he can grow into a larger role in Edmonton.
What do YOU think Stastney’s ceiling is with the Oilers – third-pair guy, solid top‑four, or more? Let us know in the comments 👇

He has all the tools. IQ at both ends, skating, and puck distribution. Also love his hustle. He’s a diamond in the rough for sure.
He's been impressive really. I had zero expectations.
Time to give him a 7*7 with an NMC.
Can’t believe we got this guy from Nashville for nothing. Trotz is such a moron.
What a great cut from your conversation boys! Love to hear your OP on up and comers. Who’s the dude with the white hat, loved his take on Stastney especially.

I mean I think he has the upside to be an outstanding transition dman. Good first pass and good wheels like you said able to drive play into the o zone and create chances through the transition snd the rush
