you don't wait for the top candidate in the NFL then offer him less than the other coaches got. that's just stupid thinking. I never once in my industry went out and lured the top engineer to the company i was fixing – then offer he a tiny contract. I 100% can guarantee if you insult your potential hire – they leave and they won't be back. Be sure of that. this is minimum 5 years. it's sill to think that is even a thought. I get you don't work in the real world (meaning professional world) BUT doing things like that will get YOU fired (and you lose the candidate). Owners can't be fired – but in the future ALL POSSIBLE CANDIDATES will 100% know who the raiders are and the best ones will pass. NO – YOU DO NOT WANT to short sheet him.
