Unfortunately Berggren just doesn't have the size to last on this team anymore and even in the league. He has some skill but just never lived up to anything else. I wouldn't be surprised if he clears waivers get's sent to Grand Rapids then ends up playing over in Europe. We don't need small playmaking forwards when the team is already one of the softest in the league.

Bringing up Leonard is really going to hurt the Griffins lol I'm not sure which is more important. Griffins definitely have a shot at winning the Calder Cup, Red Wings maybe have a shot at making playoffs 🤷♂️
Why do you guys think Berggren played 67 games as a rookie and then only got 12 in his sophomore season? Are you really putting that on him? Do you think he just didn't take care of himself in the summer and stopped trying in training camp because he thought he had a spot locked down? Or is it more likely that with signings like DeBrincat, Sprong, and Kostin, and later Kane, the organization pushed him out because they could keep him in GR one more year? It's so fucking dumb. Got regular time last season with two of the least impactful forwards, Compher and Tarasenko, and he gets punished for not being able to produce. Berggren was wasted by this organization, no one can convince me otherwise.
Watch Johnny Burgers get picked up and have a "Nyquist/Tatar" – type of career elsewhere. He wasnt given a fair shot here (meaning playing with offensive talent, i would LOVE to see a stat breakdown here on how much ice time he was given in the top six compared to 4th line, Brian!) and he most def isnt the type of player that works well in bottom six playing 7-10 mins with "grinders". John Leonard is getting a chance right away in the top six, good fot him… I would have asked to leave aswell. I would say he is almost certain to get picked up on waivers, good luck Bergy!

Berggren honestly isn’t an nhl caliber player. He always seems to get pushed off the puck by the opposition. But yzerman doesn’t put players on waivers by accident. Chicago was in talks of wanting the guy. Maybe now they can get him.

Saying he’s established is a bit of stretch. I do think he’s going to flourish, wherever he ends up. He’s got talent, just not enough consistent time and opportunity. IMO.

I really hope Johnny Berger breaks out and has a wonderful season in St Louis. I was hoping he would get more ice time this year and get paired with better players than what he did. Maybe he wasn't the defensive player coaches wanted him to be, but I think he's certainly better than Ras and has a better scoring touch than Soderblom. Not knocking Elmer at all, just think Berggren was better than what he was given in Detroit.
The Berggren story is a prime example of how to abuse and waste an opportunity. Yesterday my favourite team was the RW, today it's STL. GLHF =)
