The New Jersey Devils 2025-26 season has been a disaster.
The team is on the outside of a playoff spot and the road to get there is looking pretty grim.
Jack Hughes suffered a lower body injury in the NJ Devils game against the Nashville Predators and left the game.
He did not play last night against the Ottawa Senators.
Some people have began discussing if Jack Hughes should be playing in the Olympics for Team USA in just under two weeks from now.
In this video I give my thoughts on whether Jack Hughes should be going to Milan to play for Team USA in the 2026 Olympics.

The Devils fans that don’t like the Hughes brothers are imbeciles. He has missed 19 games and is only 5 points from leading the team in points. I’ll say that again, missed 19 games and is only 5 points from leading the team in points.
I always like that you are pretty fair in analysis of issues Ace. I suppose I am viewing Jack's participation on production this year compared to other American players. As I Devils fan I would love to have our best guy playing. If he goes I hope he does great. I never question his will or compete level. I ask you is a one handed Jack better right now than American players not going?

Without watching yet he should absolutely go to the Olympics. Once in a lifetime opportunity to represent his country. Fitz and Keefe's problems should not be his.
Even if they do someday make it into the playoffs and they go on a run, the chances of the Hughes brothers making it through that grueling process are slim to none. Especially on a team that seems to be over reliant on them. If it was me, I would post pictures of me at the gym every day during the summer to show the fans I am not blowing them off at this point.

If he misses the next 2 games and is completely healthy in Milan, I'm trading him in the summer. That's all the proof I need that Jack isn't bringing back a cup back to NJ and at that point, you have to move on just like what Florida did with Huberdeau for Tkachuk. Issue is I also don't trust this org to pull off a trade like that so we're just stuck in the position where a rebuild is needed since this team is too dumb re-tool properly. /end rant lol

I’m a little surprised by your defending of Jack, I listen to most of your postgames and you like many of us are over the core. Jack is our best player but look at who he’s compared to…they are all fragile and Jacks true comparative play was exposed during 4 nations. I will eat my words if Jack is leading teaming USA during these Olympics. How do you think his play is going to change? He’s not going suddenly become a “dog” over there. Going to be the same ice capade he dos here, with the exception he will ride the pine after two games.

The Olympics should always be for amateurs and people trying to make a name for themselves. The NHL is the ultimate Olympics for hockey players. These guys don’t need to be there. They already make millions. With that said, Jack should sit out and rest.

Personally I don’t think any professional hockey players should be going based on the status of the Olympic Hockey Arena.
With regard to Jack, if he is injured, the Devils should disallow him going. I’m sure there is something in the contract or CBA that allows teams to block players from participating in any game that is not a regulation NHL game.

Luke and Jack are both made out of glass. They should switch their last name with Cody. Jack is no longer the shining star. This organization is giving Hughes brothers too much attention and building everything around them. Jack has not scored in how many games? He lost the puck more than he passed it. We need players that can score and it's sad we need to rely on a defenseman to do it. Allen stood on his head last name and they just proved the same thing as every game, being inconsistent at being inconsistent.

No idea how he made the roster in the first place, but he should play if he can. Every kid dreams of playing for their country growing up.

At this point I have no problem with him playing. However, the cronyism is rearing it's head. Jack Hughes should not be on this team before Jason Robertson. It's crystal clear who the better player has been this season and frankly there's a couple of others who should get the nod before Jack. If he plays that is fine but if it resembles his 4 nations performance when he got knocked off the puck constantly the Jason Robertson fans are going to be pissed.
As much as the season sucks, Ace….view your trip to Italy as a silver lining. Thats really all you can do at this point. Trust me ENJOY all there is out there. ALL the food out there is fantastic. Never been to Italy, but I have been to France. I was gonna get tickets to really good playoff seats in the 23-34 season..but when I knew the Devils were out of it, I decided to take a trip to Normandy and Paris for the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings. It really was an unforgettable experience. Would not trade it for anything. The food was AMAZING there…and I have heard the same thing about Italy….When you have victory drinks out there, have their wine. Trust me, its just different. I am not a wine drinker, and even I enjoyed the stuff in France. Plus, idk what they do, but you don't get hangovers from it either. Also, it's cheap too. Is this your first time going to Europe? If so I can email you with some good tips and tricks.
You make some valid points about Jack. But as for the Devils making the playoffs is just unrealistic. This team has proven that they don’t have what it takes. Hopefully, the ownership cleans house from top to bottom when it comes to the current administration. Go Team USA 🇺🇸 👍
Personally, I would go because for me the Olympics is my ultimate dream. For Jack, he already is in the best league for his sport and it’s not worth risking it for a similar experience. Im leaning towards no for him but if he goes he should just be careful
