How Did Jonathan Huberdeau Get THIS Bad?? | FN Barn Burner

Pinder and Rhett react to a superchat about Jonathan Huberdeau and try to make sense of one of the wildest drop-offs in recent NHL history. Not long ago Huberdeau was putting up 115 points in a season — now he’s barely on pace for 40. What happened? The guys break down his struggles, the fit in Calgary, and whether there’s any path back to being the player he once was.

  1. Look at his linemates in fla then compare it to calgary. Is he a point per game player with nhl players ? Very possibly. I can tell you one thing he is not a huska system type player.

  2. He got his hug contract and doesn't care any more. He doesn't need to work he is filling his pockets.

  3. 3:05 Huberdeau had a 115 point season when Calgary traded for him. They would have gotten way more than a first if they immediately traded him for assets right after the Tkachuk trade. Players with that production get multiple firsts and prospects in a trade. Even more if Calgary was willing to retain half his cap.

Hard agree with Rhett that they should have seen the writing on the wall and began the rebuild immediately after the Tkachuk and Gaudreau exodus.

  4. its not just him alot of great players are there only for the money and contract yr they play lights out get overpaid and they become movie stars living like the jones

  5. He has zero talent around him….. he's got the bag and doesn't give a rat's ass

  6. No use even bitching about him. He is shit and it is not going to change. We are stuck or send to minors . Noone will take him!

  7. Florida traded Huber to Calgary in exchange for Matthews Tkachuk was the key to the Cats winning their first Cup

  8. He’s giving up, I can only guess they’ve talked to him about a trade and he’s in full on star sulk mood

  9. Didn't he get 30 goals last year?? Not a Flames fan, thought this guy was improving somewhat…. apparently not! Love the channel!…. However, Go Leafs!

  10. Dumpster fire. If you guys spent less time bagging on rival players & worried about your own, this Huberdeau narrative would have gotten more attention. $1.5 mil difference between him and McDavid btw 🤣

  11. Huberdeau is a set up man and needs an elite forward to play with. He went from playing with Barkov and setting records to playing with Backlund and Kadri and both those players aren't even close to Barkov skill level. Get the guy an elite player to play with and watch the turn around

  12. As a Hab fan, if he didn't have so much term I'd say send him and a 1st to Mtl, it worked out great last time with Monahan. I didn't think it was ever a bad place to play hockey, but the last few years they seem to just suck the life out of a player.

  13. Huberdeau's contract was based on an anomaly year, hence the expectations on performance were wildly unrealistic. At that contract amount, he could never "win" as, again, only one year at that level, after many years below that. Hockey experts sometimes are very dumb.

  14. They should just buy them out, open up the roster spot for a younger player, if he doesn't want to play and doesn't want to try, you might as well give it to someone else. Take the loss for a few years, but it'd be worth the development of younger players

  15. Put him in the rafters or AHL for 2 more years, and then buy him out. That money is gone and so is the old Huberdeau, neither is coming back. The guy makes the team worse, and is untradable. Just let him rot.

  16. He's the worst contract in a province that actively employs Darnell Nurse. I see no downside to buying him out. Obviously Edwards wouldn't like it but I don't like him, so who cares

  17. Easy, he was a play maker who got traded to a team that just lost all of their play finishers. It really isn't hard to understand, that Huberdeau's strengths were making the pass leads to a goal, and he got traded to a team that lacks the ability to take that pass and score. Not every player maker is like Gretzky and McDavid. Not every play maker has the ability to score like a generational talent. Honestly the guys at Barn Burner need to stop smoking weed and think for just 2 minutes.

  18. He got traded from a championship team to a loser and stopped giving a shit.
