This is bull. The big Quim was decent, provided cover for years. I'd say Phillips was a way worse signing.
For every dozen or so flat track bullies you have the big game players. Mangala was one of them. The problem is he ONLY shows up in big games and pockets big names. Put him against a mid table club and he loses his head. Put him against a relegation club and he might as well be playing with only one leg.

Pellegrini always plays kamikaze attacking football leaving huge spaces in transition making slower cb's look bad. Mangala had potential to be one of the best but he did not fit in that role in a Pellegrini team
