Its obviously gonna be hard to beat a team like Tampa Bay or Carolina in a series, but at this point I'm starting to think that they have pretty much as good a chance to win the east as basically anyone.
the playoffs are incoming..🐧
Thanks Dan! Good game. Be safe, stay warm (I'm fighting that sinus crap too), and see you on the next one! Cheers! 😉🏒🐧
Hi Dan!
Chinakovs overall game has noticeably improved since arrival
Chinakov could have had a hat trick with the amount of quality looks he had tonight.
So glad the Pens scored so many!
Letang helped in both goals against. The first, he screened Silovs and knocked him down. The Hawk’s second came after Letang’s classic giveaway along their blue line.
Silovs saved Letang’s other mistakes.
It’s terrible that one player can have such an impact on the game.
I watch all 82 games every year & next year I’ll watch 2 extra –
I can maybe count how many single plays I’ve missed on one hand (from the entire season)
even at work – I’ll carry around my phone as I work my ass off & help customers (I work nights obviously … not ideal for a die hard PENS fan) – every (game) night coming home around 1am I watch the 10-11 min highlight thing on YouTube – & of course I wait for Your post game analysis Dan – thank you very much . then if I’m still up I listen to DKs Daily Shot – if not I’ll wake up & do that . then I’ll listen to the Locked On Guys throughout the work night – takes a while because I get interrupted every goddamn second – but Hunter & Adam seem like great dudes & love the team .& I’ll also get my No Pucks Given fix in – along with the Nick & Nick show – & every Monday night I look forward to the 2 for Talking with Josh Yohe & Joey Bartnick – Josh is great & knows his stuff & Joe is hilarious . & then also DK has a DOUBLE daily shot he does – so yes I invest a lot of my very scanty amount of time to this team. these last few years have been tough – but I always saw some good in a lot of that bad …
this season I can finally say … all my hard work is or might finally be paying off 👏🤣
I thank you for your work Sir
(you can probz guess who I’m leaving out …. The initials are S.G. – & nope I don’t have time to listen to him – I get all his content from my ignorant customers who listen to him but don’t even watch the games & mismanage every thing he says)
Ready For the Playoffs ! LETS GO PENS !!!
I think McGroarty just has to keep working at it and they will come hes got talent
The difference this year is that more often than not when they have a slow start they find a way to either pick it up and get to their game instead of being flat for 60 minutes
Or conversely when they have a lead they press the attack to maintain the momentum and pressure instead of sitting back and watching the opposition come at them.
Obviously they still have lapses in games and even for stretches (looking at you December). But overall it’s an entirely different attitude and effort from the last few years. They actually play as a team and more specifically a 5 man unit on any given shift.
You love to see it.
Mcgrority had a great game. Manthas goal started with him. He was leaving the defensive zone and turned around and whipped it back to our rd (forget who it was) who then passed it to Kindel and Kindel made a great pass to open ice for mantha to grab and bury it. Point being that vision and decision making shows a lot and drove that whole play despite him not coming away with a point from it.
So I call it glass half full. IMO he could have two points if they counted tertiary passes instead of just primary and secondary lol.
Malkins and Chinakovs look like they having fun. Pens getting some really good goaltending
Get them points while it's easy, schedule gets much tougher in March/April. Even though they're 13 points above .500 they're still only tied for 8th place in the East…
I'm not all too convinced that they're gonna make the playoffs quite yet, but enjoying the start to 2026 none-the less.
Love your writing/videos. One of my favorite Pittsburgh sports writers. Just wanted to say they aren’t bad this year with rest. Pittsburgh was actually 8-2–2, or something really close to that record wise, while playing on 2+ days of rest this year 1:08. That’s their 9th win in that scenario now. I know in prior years that we could have marked this game as an L. I was even expecting some let down bc teams coming home from a road trip generally don’t play well in there first game of the home stand. Not to mention it was a west coast road trip. But kudus to them for kicking it into gear in the 2nd. Love your work! Let’s go Pens!
Do they keep the lines as is, though? The issue seems to be with the first line as it can't score… Besides not scoring, I didn't really see much aside one great backhand shot from Sid.
Man i get tired of being right. How long have i been telling you its a playoff team? Months? Theyre starting to look like a powerhouse though, and that myself nor anyone else would have seen coming. I like JB16 on that line, but he doesnt have the quickness or first step of 67&87, and that will probably be the issue here until Rust gets back. Sure he can be effective with that big frame and soft hands, but Sids line spends their fair share of time back tracking and playing defense in their own end, and that wont suit JB16s game well.
Dan should the pens wear home or away jerseys during the cup parade?
Harsh, gesh, new line combination relax they got 2 points .
Dan, excellent analysis once more. The only thing you got wrong was "startin' to come together, *Pepper*… Startin' to come together."
8:37 "Kindel has just 3 points in 17 games" "2 goals, 1 assist"
INCORRECT DAN and WAY OFF!!!! 4 points in his past 2 games.
Kindel actually has 4 points in his last 2 games (Chicago and Vancouver): 3 goals and 1 assist
Kindel had an assist vs Philly, an assist vs Calgary, 2 assists vs CBJ, 1 assist vs Detroit, 1 assist vs Chicago
If Dan Muse is not Coach Of The Year, I'm not sure who is. What a needed breath of fresh air. He has the team playing tremendous hockey.
What Muse does that Sully didn't do is give younger guys a real shot. He puts them on top lines, he let's them play on the PP, he gives them lots of minutes, etc. Which I love to see. This teams leadership is best when they have young guys to lead.
Great coverage, sir!
McGroarty has 2 more games to impress before Rust comes back from Injury then I don't know who he replaces in the lineup even if he starts finishing. Good problem to have I guess.
