Now, with 29 games remaining in their season at this pace, they would basically have to run the table and hope that those ahead of them lose apx the as many games!

The last 10 haven't changed. More prepared this year simply because other teams were improving made adjustments to retain or improve their teams positions . Leafs put all their eggs into one very big basket that lead to very few eggs left and to many holes that needed repair stability for the future.

I’m beginning to question your hockey bona fides. You cannot look at that defence, even after their limited success last year, and think this team ever had any hope. At least 10 teams have THREE dmen better than Leafs best. Another 4-6 teams have TWO defenders better than Leafs best dman. I’m hard pressed to think of any team that doesn’t have at least one defender better than anyone on the Leafs. You want a soft re build? That’s a dream. The quickest path back to contender status is fail now. Regain that pick from Boston. Get as many picks/prospects by selling off anyone in demand. Most critical TRADE Matthews. If you can get Byfield, Clarke and picks from LA do it yesterday. This window, opened in 2016 is slammed shut. Time to open a new one.

You guys are always trying to trade the support players who make peanuts. You need those cheap contracts. Mathews is only getting garbage goals. He is floating in the defensive zone. I think he has checked out already. He has the ability to control the play most of the time but rarely does. He only smiles when he scores. The rest of the time Zero emotion. Can't win with him as he is just not a leader. No sense tanking this year unless you get your 1st round pick back. I hear Boston is looking for a RD man. Cheap option for Boston is Carlo. Our first and maybe we take Lorei. Reilly is so bad defensively but as a forward he goes to the net and can carry the puck probably worth a try if you can not trade him. Mathews bidding war should net a good return. Best trade with a team that has a lot of draft picks and prospects. There is no way you can rebuild quick enough any more. They should have done this last year.
Fire and trade everyone besides 23
50% retention on anyone that gets you high draft picks, you take it. Total rebuild, a good 5 yrs from being competitive again. Matthews, Knies, Laughton, OEL an Roy at 50% retention gets a big haul. JT, McMann, Carlo, McCabe and even Domi with retention gets you reasonable picks as well. CLEAN HOUSE, THE CANCER THROUGHOUT THE ROOM HAS TO GO.
Haven’t watched a game all year. I only watch you guys because you’re great. Lifelong Leaf fan and I’m down to one word for how I feel: apathy.
