Jake Allen would look good as a back up to dobes. Dobes needs to play more often his play suffers when he is not active. So either send him to laval or keep him and use him as the regular and get a experienced backup like say jake Allen.
Penalty kill is a problem also 3 pp goals. Sam is not playing well but he is not stinking up the place completely.
Monty is washed up. Lets face it. The Habs keep on pointing to last year. This is not last year. This is this year and Monty is a disaster.
Why doesn't MSL leave the 1st power play on longer? the second unit does nothing except kill the remaining time. Gally?? I love the guy's effort, but the power play??
Before the injured players returned, Veleno, Beck, Dobes and Fowler, it worked fine.
The problem with you guys is that you excuse him by saying he had a period of 3-5 minutes where he stood on his head. Well wtf happened to the other 55 minutes of the game? We are not saying that he doesn’t have skills to play in the NHL. We are complaining about his inconsistency and giving up one or multiple 💩 goals every game (that’s even when he was winning after the Christmas break). Without consistency from who you guys call our number 1, how TF are we going to win during the playoffs?
Habs defence is terrible, that is the main problem. At some point you have to look at coaching philosophy.
The man to man system is part of the issue. Its good at surpressing shot volume but its horrid at preventing high danger shots. It takes one mistakr or one mimatch and it breaks down badly. So yeah, not a lot of shots, but more than half of them are high danger. However, he needs to make routine saves look easy, he’s too deep.
I'll let HUGO figure this out. Monty may or may be not be the answer. Dobes can play up, Fowler could use more work in Laval. The whole league is looking for goaltending…so are there realistic options out there? It is still only year 4 of a 5 year rebuild so maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves?
Also, its not necessarily what types of goals go in, its how he plays the shots that go in for me that is also an issue. That goal against zucker on that 2 on 1 is just completely off, late, horrible push.
The goaltending is an issue but so is the whole defensive system
Stop blaming our poor team performance on the goaltending. Our defense is one of the worst in the NHL and will continue to be so until we get a real Coach!!!!! Until this team learns to give equal diligence to stopping goals, as well as scoring them, we are going nowhere!
What are you even talking about blaming always somebody. Look at his save % and all the metrics he is bottom of the league . Stop being shills and ask real questions when you have the opportunity not these : how do you feel questions you come up all the time in the interview . Joke

Vs buf there were 9 shots n he let in 3. We were out shooting buf 21 9 losing 3 1..how can the guys trust this guy
Monty is not playing well enough period. Making excuses only works if it’s a 1 time thing, but it isn’t. He is consistently playing poorly of late. He is costing the team

Monty hasn't stole a game all year. He also lets in a softy every single game.
The goalie may be the obvious target, but multi Bo is barely playing at an EHL level. Any criticism he faces at this point is on him. We have two rookie goalies that are trying to follow his lead and he can’t keep his head together.
The goalies are not the only problem. But they are the main problem for this team . You need the odd good save from them. If Habs make the playoffs this trend with the goalies will not bode well.

Stop protecting Monty he's terrible. Sam didn't have many difficult shots.

Whiskeylung said it best after last game, Monty issues aside, the Habs have a tendency to come back sloppy after they score. They lose focus and give up high danger chances only a G at Price level will stop and make it look easy.

I guess I'm a pessimist, but looking at this week and the three games, it is shaping up to be a tough week; they could find themselves out of the playoffs by Sunday if they don't start winning, but hey Vegas, Avalanche and Buffalo again… yikes.
