Good morning boys
I think this is fine.
We're giving up a third-round draft pick for a player who will help add size to our team.
Romanov has been out for two months, and Roy has had a tough time filling that position.
Let’s see how this goes.
Maybe he can score key big goals like Kenny Morrow lol
I’m not against this but a third rd pick? Is that too high or is it me?
Its a move that brings stability, size, and depth to our 3rd pair defenseman. Hopefully this move allows George to stay in the lineup. Whos cares about the draft pick, you never know what we get back in future trades. Thrilling? Nope. Depth usually isn't
I think it’s a horrible trade. You’re giving up a 3rd round pick for a guy who is a 3rd pairing, and a rental. You’re also giving up your 3rd round pick, when you don’t have a 2nd round pick, so now you have two 1st round pick, and your next pick is in the 4th round.
What this tells me is that you are definitely trading that second 1st round pick to get more picks. Possibly a 2nd and a 3rd that you don’t have. Bad asset management for a 3rd pairing rental. This is a LOU like move.
Only thing that will make it palatable is if they sign him. He may want to stay in the NY area, and if he lives in Long Island, won’t have to pay city taxes. But that is unknown if he stays, or goes to UFA, which makes this a bad trade, WAY too high a pick.
Darche screwed the pooch on this one. I consider him 1-1 so far, loved the Dobson trade, the Soucy trade is bad trade.
Polluck might be more hurt
I never heard of this guy! We should have traded him for a bag of joc straps!….and some pucks.
Im unsure how i feel about this. I hate the idea of losing a 3rd round pick for a few months w a rental. But imagine sorokin having an easier time playing his position and that sounds great. Soooo im gonna see this as a positive.
I like the Soucy trade. This was a necessary move, especially with the Pulock injury. Soucy can play both sides so there is some versatility.
a 31 year old, hey i thought getting might Matt would solve the defense problem…this is why the team will NEVER win another Cup…We are now older…this franchise sucks right now
At what point does the pick # become palatable to make a trade like this for the fanbase.
A 3rd round pick for a wait and see posture. Doesn't mean they are buyers. Means let's see what this team as currently constructed does going forward. With Pulock out this means we are a puck to Pelech's face or slap shot to Mayfield's ankle away from total despair. The price might have been a bit higher for the Isles as I'm sure Drury didn't really want to help the Islanders. Its been a long time since these two teams made a deal. With Boqvist getting power play time he probably stays.
You can pick a hockey player in any round and if he's not developed right will never make it to the NHL. The Isles problem is developing players into top level talent. Recognizing attributes and seeing how you can enhance them.
It symbolizes to me – the Islanders will be buyers at trade deadline if they're buying early.
Less than 10% of 3rd rounders make it in the NHL.
