Recap: San Diego Gulls vs Abbotsford Canucks, 1.25.26

The San Diego Gulls were shut out, 4-0, by the Abbotsford Canucks on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Arena.

Abbotsford opened the scoring just 1:57 into the game when Ty Mueller beat Tomas Suchánek, giving the Canucks a 1-0 lead after the first period despite the Gulls generating quality chances early.

The Canucks added two goals in the second period to extend their advantage. Danila Klimovich made it 2-0 at 7:12, and Victor Mancini followed late in the frame at 18:15 to put Abbotsford ahead 3-0 heading into the third.

San Diego pushed back in the final period, outshooting Abbotsford and generating sustained offensive-zone pressure, but Aku Koskenvuo stood tall in net. Mueller sealed the game with his second goal of the night at 10:42 of the third to complete the scoring.

The Gulls finished the game with a 33-29 edge in shots on goal and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Suchánek made 25 saves in the loss, while Koskenvuo turned aside all 33 shots he faced to earn the shutout.

San Diego concludes its road series in Abbotsford having split the four-game season series to date and will look to rebound in its next outing as the season continues.
