Great game and Western swing! However, without stellar goalie play, this defense seems highly suspect. What is your opinion, and if you agree, what is the solution.
2nd line was playing OUT OF THEIR MIND This has nothing to do with the Penguins "playing different styles". This west-coast-swing is the perfect representation of that. first two teams buttoned up and played heavy defensive protection of their zones. That only works for a certain amount of time. Next game we play an offensively focused team with a massive lead. Relied heavily on opportunistic goaltending and continuing putting subtle amounts of pressure on the opposing team to negate an momentum creation. 4th game. We just sort of barely got by with the same. New found energy on the 2nd line. Kindel energy on the 3rd in his "hometown". 1st line was largely invisible. We made usual mistakes that Stu bailed us out of. We relied on creating pressure to keep the opposing teams momentum down just like Edmonton. It's just obvious that Vancouver is not the same team as the Oilers. We largely played the exact same team while relying on little things and momentum swings to maintain control of the game.
Thanks Dan! I so appreciate your analysis and insight. Enjoyed the game. Be safe coming back home. I will be watching the team flight – supposed to be leaving around 10am PST (1pm EST). I survived 'snowmegeddon' with a little over 8 inches of snow. However, not looking forward to the brutally cold temps for this week. . . ❄🥶❄🥶❄🥶
Glad to see the 3rd line chipping in again from yet another player, and thankfully Kindle finally showing some sign of life, so now lets see this on a more consistent level. One thing i like about this team is that one night its BK81, the next its AM39, the next its Rusty, Its always Chinakov baby! Oh yeah we got a player called Crosby, and another Dude71, Shjt EK65 is one my personal favs..bottom line is Crosby doesnt have to win every game for us,…Yes Dan since the beginning of 87&71 no doubt, DAYS OFF SET THIS TEAM BACK…This is a really good team. Yeah they'll have some real boring games and lose, but when the playoffs come? Rhut row Raggy. but they gotta play with energy. The 4th line, 59,81and 18 have all been leading the charge as they should. The defense is playing well, the tending, damn….I like this chemistry but end of the season it may look different, injuries possibly, you dont know…. Dubas gotta make a move before all the game wreckers are dealt. JR21in big D def qualifies. Hell grab Heiskanen while youre there.🤣 You got the cap space, and youre prob going to need more fire power to even get shot at Colorado….but as i said, ya never know. Love the parity…probably only because its working in my favor🤣
MALKIN finally got great skaters and player's that should be on the first line like novac making MALKINS line very dangerous..What a difference from now, and last year.. PS, shout out to STU, this dude is AWESOME 😎😎
I'm gonna have to go Back to School on you Dan…Kinison to Dangerfield, "Say it, Say it Kingerski", what most of us fans are thinking…we have a damn good team…top tier special teams, scorers throughout the lineup, great 4th line, and very good goaltending…and we've beaten every good team we've played…the playoffs are the goal, and not just squeaking in
Skinner is better than Jarry, and his past performances in the playoffs over the last two years make him a playoff goalie. All four lines are "dangerous." The special teams are top ten, and their 60-minute play will get them more wins. Playoffs are a reality, and a deep run is not out of the question. Lets go Pens!
I LOVE me some Wotherspoon lately!!! We haven't had a mean or even tough Dman for a while. At least top 4 ones since Kasper that i can think of. What a steal of a pickup that was!!! He's also such a good partner for Karlsson.

Hi Dan!
Great reporting as usual Dan.
The shot on Fleury was by none other than Nicklas Lidstrom.
Our 2nd line is better than most 1st lines right now.

Letang is back and so are close run games 😟

Nice recap. And nice Buffalo Springfield reference….

You really want this sort of output from Kindel every game.
Idk what game your watching I thought it was boring, good for 81 but blah….

Both Novak and Dewar are Lizott-ish finds by Dubas. Boy, they are fun to watch and glad we have them!
Skinner has been a beast in net
I like Novak now. Novak has good vision, good stick handling, and good passing.
