Henrik Zetterberg didn’t just break into the NHL… he landed between two all-time legends…

Wow those red wings teams were just stacked.
From Shanny and fedorov to hull and datsyuk lol
Did you ever get cornholed, oops I meant kronwalled.
Hank was so great to watch.
Euro Twins, baby
He'll be a Hall of Famer eventually.
This red wings era made me a diehard fan from when I was 6 years old, I’m 31 now and still wear number 17 because of Brett Hull from his time on the wings. They won the cup when I first started watching hockey
This guy would win 50/50 puck battles with guys 20 to 30#'s bigger than him. Then try and take puck off him…just a great 200' player.
I love Detroit scouting, 7th round pick.
Go Wings go.
Welcome to Detroit. It’s time to choose your hall of fame line mates. We have many options starting with Federov and Shanahan 😂
Hank looks like Jake Gyllenhaal
And Lidstrom in the D… damm that was a stacked team
Not the least bit a Wings fan but if Datsyuk ain't one of your favorite players you're just wrong
Hitting on Datsyuk and Zetterberg in back-to-back drafts, in the 6th and 7th rounds respectively, is crazy fortuitous.
As a Pens fan, 2008 was tough to watch. Zetterberg was a beast! I was happy to watch the revenge tour a year later 😊😂
Kronwall as well! Peeps forget about him. Tbh peeps often forget aboot Hank…as a devs fan him and datsyuk were legendary!
The comeback down 3-2 vs no longer nordiques I’ll cherish forever
2002 WCF, Dominator Hasek shuts them out games 6&7! I was watching from under my bed.. had that team not won the Stanley Cup not sure I’d care anymore.. Luc Robitaille was on that team too!
Z was the most competitive defensive forward I've ever seen. Ask Malkin and Toews they know.
It’s unbelievable just how amazing those red wings teams were. They really harnessed that Russian and European talent.
Seeing a roster like this does kind of make me hate the salary cap. You just can’t roll out two top lines like this anymore with the salary cap. And even if you get lucky and draft it, you’re only gonna be able to have it for a couple years before you gotta move some of them to stay under the cap.
This just reminds me how much the nfl has it right go the game itself. Maybe not for the players but for the game the nfls system works the best. If the nhl had a bonus/non-guaranteed contract hard cap system like the nfl that allowed for player movement and more than that team improvement, the nhl would double its popularity in 5 years and everyone would make more money, but greed makes you short sighted and the players don want to give up the guarantees and the owners dont want to give up control and because of that atleast 20 nhl franchises have zero chance to win a Stanley cup over the next 5-6 years.
Imagine starting with shanny and fedorov, then going to hull and datsyuk. I mean his other options were Yzerman’s line and the grind line 😂 what a time to be a wings fan!
HANK Z!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
2 kids and a GOAT
Legendary line
Both lines he was on were absolutely sick
Wow, those lines are insane 🤣 also, those Reebok skates were atrocious looking.
I think Zetterberg forgets himself here. I'm pretty sure that there would be more goals against unless he played so well defensively as well. Also, Datyuk and Zetterberg were the feared, sorcerous Euro Twins for multiple seasons without Hull. They were great!
The DETROIT Dream Team 😊
Every hockey players nickname ends with -y
Talking about it so casually 😂
Datsyuk, Shanahan, Zetterburg is ridiculous…. Too bad that Toews, Kane, and Hossa were just better and had 3 cups in 5 years 🤷♂️
Fuck the Red Wings.
I would kill to be able to watch all the old Wings games from say 1995 to 2004, the build up to becoming the greatest team in the history of hockey and the magic years. If we could get those seasons as part of an on demand Red Wings channel, then add more years gradually. I don't know the best way to do it, but from the mid 90's up until the lockout Detroit had a bad ass team and I'd love to re watch many of those games. That era's complete games as well as highlights would easily provide enough content to launch a subscription service around. If the rosters and key unforgettable moments and highlights were all indexable so they could be searched for it would be even better. This is likely a big ask as I'm not sure if that era would have all of its games recorded as digital content and all complete games be saved and catalogued. I don't think HD even began until into the 2000's. If anyone knows anything about how or if old games (mid 1990's and newer) were catalogued, and if individual teams, the NHL, or the TV networks would have those games on file please share what you know. If this content is sitting on tape or on a hard drives somewhere it would be great to get it out there, and people would pay. Even just the playoff runs from that era would be an amazing start.
2 kids and a GOAT line
Two kids and an old goat line
I'm so glad for the salary cap.
A a swedish person I just love the thought of economical justice.
The product is better; the tension, the parity, the chemistry, management, managing the TOI – the cap means it just became better than every other sport!
One development I don't like:
Power-breaks. Means that the team aspect is less important(Let the really good guys rest a bit more).
One thing I find better than in every other sport:
The mind game between shooter & goalie in the shoot-out.
Thx for reading. What do you think?
Hank’s ability to kill penalty minutes is something that’s not celebrated enough
Those 3 would still dominate in the NHL!
The Wings get credit for scouting and drafting well. But in reality, what made their franchise special for so many years is they put young talent in a position to succeed and they invested in their development.
The 2000-to like 2012 NHL was the best .. big hits, speed, skill, mix of the old vets who played in the 80-90’s and new guys who brought in all the skill but still had the toughness.
OMG. Two kids & a GOAT
Damn they really developed Zetteberg to be Stevie Y 2.0
wow such legends
I hated Brett hull when he played. But I’ve gained so much respect for him since.
