  1. Curtly was such a terrifying fast bowler. He was fast, accurate and menacing. Not one to mess with. Those were the glory days. How I wish for those days to return when West Indies Cricket and cricketers will be respected again.

  2. Ohh my my what a observer and imitator Hayden is …. Wonderfully Summarised Ambrose 😂😂😂

  3. Always loved mathew haydens

Physique and big chest like a bodybuilder

Made him look fearless when facing the fastest bowlers in the world

  4. Curtly Ambrose is never mentioned in the conversations of the greatest ever fast bowlers and it’s a real shame. The guy was a monster and his stats are even more impressive if you consider he played in the 90s with a declining West Indies team. One of the most underrated pace bowlers ever.

  5. As a proud Englishman I couldn’t stand Hayden; there is a reason though, he was just so annoyingly brilliant both with the bat and his fielding. Bravo sir.

  6. Hayden came good in a massive way after 2000 but yes in 1996 Matthew Elliott should have definitely been playing. Was crazy he didn’t get more opportunities at that time.

  7. Ambrose was my childhood favourite bowler , that action like a long jump athlete was so awesome to watch. He use to terrorise batsman with deadly bouncer delivered from 7 feet shark.

  8. If Hayden was scared of a bowler, it meant that the bowler was a legend someone like Curtly Ambrose. I watched the documentary on the 1997 West Indies tour of Australia Test series. Ambrose was injured in the fourth Test, and as a result, every Australian batter looked happy and relaxed. They scored big runs in that match and took control of the series.

However, in the next match, Ambrose returned and once again demolished the Australian batting lineup. Eventually, Australia won the series 3–2.

  9. Matty my friend what happened, I would have seen you in the airport and walk pass you, what happen mate, too much late night 😅

  10. "Well bowled Curtly", from his teammates after most deliveries,is something I remember fondly.Up there with,"bowled Shane" from Healy.😊

  11. Man I hope we see a revival in West Indies cricket. The world needs them to be one of the dominant sides again.

  12. For me the greatest Test XI since my childhood (since mid 90s):
    1. Hayden
    2. Sehwag
    3. Ponting
    4. Tendulkar
    5. Lara
    6. Kallis
    7. Sangakara
    8. Akram
    9. Warne
    10. Ambrose
    11. McGrath

  13. For all the kiddies who may not know, Haydos was the #1 bat in the world in his prime (2003-04 from memory), in both Test and ODI formats.

  14. This is why I like Aussies, they are dicks on the field when they are playing. But when they hang their boots, their accolades towards opposition of their time feels so unadulterated and pure and not saying for the sake of being put on the spot. Same goes for English ex players, who are not generally dicks on field, but gem off the field once they hang up their boots.

  15. Ambrose was one of the greatest of all time, arguably the best ever. Certainly he was more difficult to bat against than Walsh.
