Dump Laffy off as soon as possible. It is just PAINFUL to watch clueless Laffy deliver next to nothing game after game. Pay 50-70% of his bloated salary to the other club, that should make a difference in what NYR get in return. Dolan should pay that as a self-smack for allowing Drury to give this nitwit such a huge contract.
You're NOT getting ANYTHING back of value for Lafreniere, Unless you do ONE of TWO things…you would have to package him with someone (Trochek and/or Schneider) OR you would have to take back someone else's headache or under-performing forward who gets paid a similar cap hit…PERIOD!!!!!
Chris Drury should call teams like Seattle forexample, trading Laf for Shane Wright. Both have stagnated and needs change of scenery. They gotta look at other teams players similar to Laf that have underperforming youngster or someone that gives up on them. Would you take Shane Wright?

If Schneider plus "someone else" could get me a bonafied winger, then you do it! The Rangers need WINGER help. YES you would be leaving the D corp a BIT thin without Schneider but it's the old…you have to give up something to go GET something. They also Have EJ Emery and Jackson Dorrington in the pipeline AND you can ALWAYS find some journeyman D guy to help, Connor Mackey (et al)
Including playoffs he’s played nearly 500 NHL games. Forget about him being the first overall pick, he is who he is, and that’s a 40 point third line player minus the sandpaper. That exact player should get around 4.5 per not 7.6. Move on.

Great show. I agree with you on Othmann, Berard, any younger player with limited NHL experience. Obviously entertain offers, but no pressing reason to give up on young players when all you can get in return are journeyman forwards with little scoring ability, or equally unproven prospects. Even more so for Schneider, who is a proven 2d or 3d pair defenseman with physical presence — and still some upside potential, esp if protected by a better cast of forwards.
Laf is a very different story. Why not take a bag of pucks, or even just the bag, in return for $7.45 m in cap space? That's far from "nothing" — I'd call it a huge win! He is a net negative on the ice because 90% of his touches are turnovers — AND the salary is a millstone that kills team depth every effing day. I'd go further — if you can't move him, retire him after the season with a relatively small hit of $1.25 m per year for 12 years (the cap hit for players under 26 being half that for older players), and turn the remaining $6+ m into a competent forward.
Only return for the Rangers for Lafreniere will be exactly what Jon said: another disappointing player on a bad contract. At this point they might as well.

Schneider is a third pair defenseman at best. You find those guys for $1 million a year on the scrapheap every off-season. If you can move him and get decent assets in return you do it. This team is going to be bad for at least five years. Fans need to get that into their heads. Sell, sell, sell.
It's me again, the Quick fan from LA. But I'm also a Rangers fan now…:) as far as your topic today, there seems to be something dreadfully wrong with pretty much all of them, not just Alexis…….not sure why but they all seem really uninspired. I personally don't get it how the wheels fell off form being in the conference final….there seems to be something really off with this team…I don't know how to explain it….the Kings are not any better if you ask me……..same thing, you never know who will show up night to night except you never except a dominating vibe from the team….
Schneider then LaFreniere then Othmann in that order unless Lad gets meds. I liked Schneider when he was a “baby Trouba” but something happened. I’ve now seen Lafs pre NHL play and he was a skilled beast. WTF? Othmann is a bet on continued and progressive advancement. There’s a big question for how NHLrs get to look so incompetent. It’s gotta be coach/GM.
