No golly wants to replace another goalie that's having a s*** night. Old boy didn't want to come off the ice and he knew it so he was hiding. It's a good teammate. Still funny as f***. 😅
He probably had to use the bathroom & while in the locker room found out that coach was looking for him. Then knowing coach was pissed, he had to keep laying low. Then when the period ends, and everybody ends up in the locker room, he blames it on gastrointestinal woes.
Wait till the owner sees that.

With a short bench, he was required to wait in an adjacent locker room and while he could hear some shouting, the person who was actually suppose to come and get him never did, so he was trying to get eyes on and gauge whether or not he was needed.
