Bryan Hayes joins SC with Jay Onrait for another edition of Harvey’s Hot Takes, where he gives his thoughts on what defensive options the Leafs have to deal for, how Bo Bichette and Mitch Marner’s legacies in Toronto compare to each other and how they will each be received on their returns, and how concerned Bills fans should be with the state of their team.

Correct
So you just do nothing and hope the Leafs make the playoffs in a dog fight? Matthews is not gonna be a one-man wrecking ball…
Bichette & Marner are both pouty punks & both will get booed equally don't just let them off the hook bc they got paid millions of dollars UGH UGH we are booing both of them for not wanting to play here anymore.
Money talks & pouty punks WALKS good riddens to both Marner & Bichette.
Sell for next year
Truthfully, this team needed help on the blue line even without any injuries. They are working with scraps at this point.
Consequences of Inaction for the Leafs
1. Risk of Decline in Standings**: Without trades, the Leafs are likely to fall in the standings, potentially not bad enough to be at the bottom just missing out on a top 5 pick while they might be poor enough allowing rivals Boston to benefit for having a top 6- 8 pick
2. **Rival Impact**: Doing nothing could enable Boston to secure a franchise player from a Leafs pick, which would have long-term negative implications for the team.
3. **Draft Picks Concern**: Last year our mediocre rating GM Treliving traded away two first round picks were unnecessary , since they had already went all in, stopping now is already too late unless they decide to have a full rebuild. Commenting the Leafs have zero assets is incorrect , although trading 2028 and 2029 first picks to improve the roster is not ideal, it is considered better than allowing Boston to gain a franchise player.
4. **Rebuild Consideration**: If the Leafs enter a full rebuild, they could reacquire picks back by trading away their top veterans players, since 34 & 88 don’t consider Toronto as their home, when the team announced a full rebuild, they will definitely accept to remove their no trade .
5. **Need for Action**: The Leafs only have two more years of 34 therefore the team faces a decision, to either sell players for future gains or make strategic trades to improve immediate performance. Doing nothing is viewed as a detrimental option.
6. **Uncertainty of Trades**: Although trading does not guarantee playoff success, it increases the chances of maintaining standings and preventing rivals from gaining better positions. The better the Leaf’s record are the lower the pick will give to Boston.
How does he make a worst trade than Carlo and Laughton? That was JFJ tier.
It's time to get serious about retooling this team. Asset manage. Sell expiring contracts and aging players.
Ppl will cheer for Bo.. And booo the crap out of Marner. Bo wasn't toxic. Marner is the most toxic person in NHL history.
Start a firesale in Toronto…I been a hockey fan 45 years now…this teams goin nowhere fast… Mathews can't stay "healthy" so send him to the states where he obviously wants to be…got no heart in the playoffs anyway…not even captain material in my opinion….wipe the slate clean while u can still look people in the eye…😂😂😂😂😂
Jay finally ate a hamburger 🍔
Leafs dont have deadline options they dont have draft picks and need to keep their best players for future
NONE , Stop the useless narratives and we'll see what happens chemistry is important re-up Lawts and Mcmann
The leafs haven’t had a championship pedigree since 1967…
If he trades for Kadri they wont make the playoffs. He is a shadow of his former self.
Tree living will be fired this year. Leafs need total rebuild
Fire.the Gm
Simple OEL is hurt. Myers cost is not that high. Take Debrusk with Myers and Bains you will be fine. If you don't Ottawa will. Return Quinllan Cowan.
I don't think they should do anything because they don't have much to give up and if they do, do anything sell assets and try to gain daft picks and or future assets
