Vancouver’s next move just became OBVIOUS…

With reports surfacing that the Seattle Kraken are officially open to trading former fourth-overall pick Shane Wright, the Vancouver Canucks find themselves at a crossroads. Despite a breakout 44-point campaign last year, Wright’s offensive production has dipped to just 17 points in 49 games this season, leading to rumors that Seattle is looking to swap him for a “win-now” top-six scoring threat. For a Canucks team looking to inject high-end youth into their lineup, Wright represents the ultimate “buy-low” opportunity with massive upside. While the price—likely involving a player like Jake DeBrusk or a significant prospect package—is steep for an in-division rival, the chance to secure a 22-year-old potential second-line center is a move Patrik Allvin simply cannot ignore.

  1. Seattle doesn’t have enough players the Canucks want. Shane Wright is a bit of a reclamation project. What about Berkly Catton? I cannot think of any Dmen or goalies to add

I heard Washington is in the mix. Are they willing to give Connor McMichael and Ryan Leonard?

For Demko, lets say you can get a surgery for him that long term makes him healthy. I would still stagger his game so one Demko game, then Lankinen, then Demko again. Don’t make him play consecutive games!

  2. Why is buffalo looking to get rid of him? It’s because he’s been reported to have major attitude issues and they’re throwing up their hands.

Give us a real top 6 forward and you can have this young guy trying to masquerade as one.

For example the stories I’m hearing, he’s demanding and pouting for more ice time and to be higher in the lineup based purely off his profile as a former top pick than actually work for it.

Not saying he’ll be a bust necessarily, but there’s obviously a reason they’re looking to get rid of him.
