He was that locked in…

Lukáš Dostal was completely locked in, so locked in he didn’t realize he won, as the Anaheim Ducks stunned the Colorado Avalanche with a 2–1 win, stopping 40 of 41 shots in one of his best performances of the season. After a rough stretch coming off injury, Dostal looked fully back, turning aside chance after chance against one of the NHL’s most dangerous offenses, with the Avalanche posting over four expected goals. The Ducks opened the scoring thanks to a strong play from Jeff Viel, Ryan Poehling, and Cutter Gauthier, with Viel scoring his second goal as a Duck off a rush started by Radko Gudas. Despite missing Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, and Troy Terry, Anaheim found a way to grind out the win, forcing overtime after a huge save by Scott Wedgewood in regulation. Dostal slammed the door again in OT, sealing a statement victory and proving once again why he’s the backbone of this Ducks team. #hockey #nhl #anaheimducks #coloradoavalanche

  1. First. This game was wild to watch though, Avs were having their way with us in the 3rd, and I was sure we'd lose, but Dostwall keeps proving he's worth every penny.

  2. I’ve honestly don’t know what to think we go from a 9 game loosing streak to 5 game win streak. Love this team but just so confused

  3. Why does it feel like our defense is always on the suspect side? Seeing the avs blast straight to Dostal with little resistance and get all those shots on goal was hard to watch.

  4. I thought Nelson saved it at the end of the 3rd period, just a thought. I thought it was a goal lol!

  5. You know. Doswall could carry the Czech's to another medal, like he did in the Worlds. Winning this game to open the road trip has really changed my expectations of this road trip. Viel 5 points in 64 games pre Ducks. 2 goals in 3 games on the Ducks. We still need a #1 RD and some offensive help. But the boys are grinding the wins out.

  6. Never in a million years did I think our boys would win against the Colorado Avalanche!!!! We are back and bringing the heat even without three of our best players 🤘🤘 Go Ducks!!!!!

  7. That's my Dostwall! Watched this game live, I really thought we were about to shut out the best team in the league on their home ice.

  8. GM PV must be beside himself with pride seeing his new man Viel scoring 2 in his first 2 games. I really enjoy that 3rd line with him cutter and poehling.

But how much longer can the Ducks go without their top guys? I think in the games against the Kraken, Anaheim lacked that physical edge. (Hence Verbeek trading for Viel).

I have a feeling this next one in Seattle is going to be scrummy.

  9. It's was truly a nail biter. Not sure how the game was going to go but the Ducks came in clutch and fought hard and took the win, amazing game. Let's keep it going. LETS GOOO DUCKS!!!!

  10. I don't know what people saw in Viel to make them trade for him. He was an unremarkable player his entire career. He had 3 goals total before the ducks, and he already has 2 in three games with the ducks, and he's out there muscling people being the enforcer we needed.

  11. telling you fam anaheim is the rehabilitation center/develpment center for people that other teams have given up on or overlooked lol. No one stat sheet wise would have ever expected viel to come in and score 2 goals right away given his career history. Is it the california sunshine. Is it the team spirit. Is it the bombay jacket good luck charm I sure dont know but you cannot understate how dominant beckett has been n the overlooked/undervalued category same with cutter and leo lol. and then as far as the new life/rehabilitation you got kreider trouba and viel all doing great so far lol this season with us. So I dont know fam. But its crazy to think we are playing this much better defensively with about half of our main lineup missing. It is pretty nutty gives a lot of hope for the future next season when we get mcqueen for sure and whatever other talent potentially matures on our junior teams. Like it is nutty the future is bright. It will be a tight race this season for playoffs. These games coming up are crucial lol but if we win these important divisional games who knows we might at the very least secure the wildcard guarantee by winning our division tiebreakers lol. We have already won one of those season series against the hated ones from LA but got a couple more we need to clutch and win lol.
