MYSTERY: Minnesota Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov Faces Unseen Struggles, Will He DOMINATE Again?

Minnesota Wild face a pivotal shift as Kirill Kaprizov remains productive but isn’t required to carry the team every night. Can the emergence of Matt Boldy and Quinn Hughes propel the Wild to new heights, or will Kaprizov’s looming $17 million extension raise the stakes for his performance next season? Host Seth Toupal examines whether the Wild’s improved depth relieves pressure on their star, while also questioning if a subtle decline hints at injury or evolving team dynamics.

Jonas Brodin’s injury sparks tough conversations about his future in Minnesota, as his increasing absences spotlight the need for reliable blue line solutions. Seth Toupal discusses potential trade deadline targets and succession planning for the defense. Plus, Marcus Foligno’s resurgence—from a slow start to January goal-scoring surge—adds a new spark to the Wild’s lineup. Key insights on roster strategy, cap concerns, and the Wild’s playoff outlook await.

  1. Bro. Not Brodin. If anything, the time he misses gives young defenseman a shot. He does tend to get in those big moments I feel like.

  3. Guerin has to make a reverse exchange. For Hughes, he gave away three players who were part of the main squad. Now he has to get three for one.

  4. S Top, Chris Peters from Flow Hockey is a great guest idea for the progrum. Heard him on another pod and bro can sling facts. Lot of good ahl content too.

  5. I will keep saying this about Brodes: The Wild don't win a 7 game series against the Oilers without Brodin

  6. Kirill has 59 points in 51 games, a 1.16 PPG average. Slightly down but that was expected playing with a Rookie and Grandpa Zucc, returning from injury…….I'm not too worried about Kirill other than he is getting older and needs a forward of his caliber, or close, to play with NOW.
*Kirill will make $19,100,000 the next 4 seasons, then $17M, followed by a season at $15.2M, and the two remaining seasons a measly $13.7M which averages out to a $17M cap hit. It is an atrocious contract, but it had to be done. Fingers crossed the cap "projections" are correct………

  8. KK keeps passing directly to the opposing team while looking right at them. His no-look fancy pass razzle dazzle isn’t landing on our tape like it did last season. He seems occupied.

  9. Seth, something to think about when it comes to Jesper. If he continues this progression wouldn't it be smarter to trade him this/next season to get a maximum return instead of having to give him a big contract in 2027? Gus is already locked up @ $6.8M for 5 years and I would think Jesper would get more. You can't have $15M+ in cap wrapped up in goalies.
    Just something to ponder………..

  10. Like Hughes, he is having zero luck luck. When these two players start scoring, the Wild are going to be a big problem for opponents. 97 is streaky – all is good. The loss to Montreal while a gut kick, shows how good this team is going to be – no Ek/Boldy/Brodin/Johansson/Bogosian, travel playing a rested team and nearly pulling it out, tells me we may finally have a fun spring.
