Konsta Helenius and the kid line DOMINATE to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a win in Nashville

Lindy Ruff put together a kid line of Zach Benson – Noah Ostlund – Konsta Helenius for the last two games, and in Nashville that line went off in the first period. Two Ostlund goals and a three point effort from Helenius, including his first NHL goal, got the Sabres out to a big lead early that they needed having played the night before. Helenius showed off his amazing shot and the line showed they were the ones that were going to have the energy, despite playing back to back nights. Was the Sabres collapse defendable? Panic play in the second period almost saw a four goal lead become a one goal lead. Nashville did make it a one goal lead, but the Sabres survived, thanks go a very good night from Alex Lyon. However, it was another game where the goalie performed well, but gave up a soft goal to let the opponent back in the game.

Plus, the standings are starting to look better and better for the Sabres with gaps opening between themselves and the Flyers, Capitals, and Devils.

    Do you think we move Quinn with the obvious young talent we have and add a top six forward to help on the power play. Not a rental, another good long-term stud that fits the team. Absolutely not some old dude.

    Absolutely amazing first period for the young Finn, Konsta Helenius! First NHL goal and two assists, impressive fer sure!! Östlund was amazing too with two goals… Now they need time on the ice?

    Every game since the streak got to 6 has been huge imo and it's going to be a real challenge not to call every game the most important since the drought started.

    Benson and Austlund both have exceptional hockey senses and top-tier defensive knowledge. I really wish Jiri Kulich was healthy; I think he works very well with Thompson. It's nice to see these games starting to look like playoff hockey. This is bringing out the best in the Sabres, and their opponents know they have to play their best or risk losing.

    Tough loss vs canes yet they comeback next game and beat improved preds. That's the difference between previous years and even start of this season. Sabres are skilled and young. What does Jarmo do going frwd?

    Wow we are on the right track all the high end draft choices that management made under K Adams (who) are looking good. The top 4 defenseman , 2 first overall, 1 first rounder, 1 2nd rounder are playing as an effective unit. Doan is a gamer. What happens to Tuch will be telling as to the direction this team wants to go. (EICHEL, Rienhardt).

    Strong move signing Doan. Sabres r getting good goaltending which is critical . Ostlund line vs Montreal should be great. Preds r a good team yeah they made it exciting, they're trying too.

    It's good Doan was signed however, Tuck should have been first. Sabres almost blew this game.
