Ace The Devils have retired 5 numbers and In those games they are 5 and 0 so they should retire same 5 numbers every game
Nemec did good, especially in overtime.
Ace, I know you say Glendening shouldn't play anymore, and overall I agree. However, I like the idea of keeping him around in case of injury because of his faceoff work and his solid PK ability. Juho Lammikko on the other hand is a guy I definitely don't want playing in NJ.
As for forward prospects, there really aren't any to get excited about, and especially in Utica. The forwards from the past two drafts haven't shown much yet. There is Halonen, Parent, and Crookshank, but all three are just "guys", not true NHLers. Then there is Shane Lachance, but the kid needs a lot of work on his skating to play consistently in the NHL. I'd rather play Brian Halonen than Lachance right now. But for now, keep in Hameenaho for sure. The kid looked like he at least belonged in the NHL. Mistakes will happen, but he moves his feet and makes chances for himself and linemates.
As for the left side on D, I say play Nemo on the left with Pesce on the top pairing. Nemo will soak up a lot of defensive stuff from Brett the way that Luke did last season. Then I'd play Siegs and Kovy as the second pairing, Dilly and Dougie as the 3rd pairing, and keep Colton White in the wings for emergencies.
Let's GO Devils!!!
Not to be a complete doomer but they need to score more goals and stop relying on defencemen to bail the fowards out
Amazing when you fix your PK wins start piling up. Whatever they are doing I hope it continues. In regards to the PP and O at regular strength once again guys are not burying great chances. Hopefully that changes at least for the capable offensive guys. To finish Luke Hughes gets hurt and I never wish it on anyone but I really am not going to miss him being in the lineup. He was an overpaid turnover machine that does not play a complete game. We have more than enough d-men to do the job properly. Go Devils! PS: 2-1 so far in the 10 game stretch I was looking at. 5-2 to get to 7 wins and at best I was thinking 8. Hope we get there. Playoffs? Playoffs! Hell yeah! LOL!
If Luke is out with surgery for rest of season, do we get that cap space?
I hate saying this because I donāt want anyone to be injured, but Luke being out is the BEST thing for this TEAM (itās all about the crest). Finally no more Luke on PP1, no more giveaways. Small shot we make a run but if we do, it will be because we finally ābenchā Luke (aka heās injured)
No one talks about this but I go back to 2022-2023 season & playoffs. Fitz brought Luke onto the team after Michigan concluded their season. His 2 regular season games + playoffs made him waste an ELC year. If Fitz didnāt do that, we would have had Luke this year for 900k instead of 9mil. I called it back then and it all came to fruition. THERE IS NOT A WORSE GM IN THE LEAGUE
Ace, I watched Mercer get set for a face off in period 1 against Huberderdeau. Mercer got smoothly and slowly slid
a foot back towards Devils net with his skates dug in. That exemplifies the lack of strength in most of our players. Crazy part is that our players know this and as a group don't get stronger year after year. Except Nemecš¬šŖ
Thoughts: Marky played well when in crease and should start again. Nemo Mr clutch as usual he should he an untouchable. Need to work on breakaway attempts. Lukeā¦.. not good at all. Thatās why we needed quinn so when stuff like this happens. I think Lenni gave some good set up passes too. LGD. Luke should also study film in the meantime
Great game! I loved the fast pace and back forth action. Marky made some great saves when needed also. Hope they can ride the momentum tonight in EDM.
Nemo clutch again. One shovelful out of a big hole. Lets Go Devils!
Nobody on this team can finish, right now. All night I was complimenting the great moves and passes they made, but again. Nothing ended with puck in net. That being said. I'm happy the boys found a way to win tonight
I never want to see one of our guys go down, but Luke going down does present an opportunity we likely wouldn't have seen to see if the D core is better with him, or without him and hopefully allow Luke to learn some lessons so when he does come back, he will be a much more solid player…LGD!!!
Iām not necessarily happy that Luke is out but the way this team is playing they need to tighten up in the d zone to prevent the puck from going in. Luke being off the ice helps that. He has been a turnover machine this season and he knows it. Using the 9 mill if he is shut down the rest of the season will help tremendously as well. You can get a top 6 player and another puck mover if you want. Luke will have a great career and you donāt want to see injuries happen at any point, but you can see how it might help on the short term.
Man, I passed out early last night after the first so I missed the OT heroics. That said, that 'fourth line' with Glass, Gritz, and Lenni was very solid from what I was able to see. Glass and Gritz have been two bright spots on this rough season. Fingers crossed that Luke's injury is only a couple of weeks/not that serious so that the Dougie deal and drama can finally be over. If Luke is out for the season, I do not see them using the LTIR again (for the third year in a row) and Fitz can again blame injuries for his inability to make trades.
I watched Sharks – Panthers highlights during intermission . The level of physicality in that game was insane . We are light years away from cup contention . Appreciate the win though .
