So as a Tampa sports fan and native… this is all new to me. All of our 3 teams were really good for the last 2-3 years, lots of championships and or appearances after YEARS of sucking. And now all our teams are losing their players and it’s super depressing. Pat Maroon and Ross Colton leaving the bolts has me down bad. Brady left the Bucs. Man… anyone got any spare copium?
Canucks fans LOVE treating their newcomers like shit, it seems.
I’m not sure it’s a good idea for Ottawa and Detroit to be trading with each other at a time when they could be battling in eastern conference finals in the near future.
The reason why you’ve just heard crickets is the negotiations occurring between Yzerman and DeBrincat’s agent on his long term deal. If there was something else going on, you’d hear it from the leaky teams. The fact that this has been dead silent, tells me that Yzerman has been involved.
Seriously this Canucks fan base is such a hornets nest , is everyone gonna cry over Blueger taking Bo’s 53 next
For a long time, the only retired number for the Blues was 3. That had belonged to Bob Gassoff, who was killed in a motorcycle accident at Garry Unger's farm.
Couldn't the team have told Cole about #28 being Bourdon's former number? It seems like that whole situation could've been resolved internally. Good on Cole either way.
Yes find a discounted Horvat and put Blueger on it lol
Imagine the 'Hawks get DeBrincaat back. Thanks for all the picks, suckers!
Love the old sens jersey, wish it could be worn with more exciting news though.
I was sad when Ottawa brought out this last season's retro jersey, it felt kind of boring. Would love to have seen them bring back the gold laurels with the current logo
I do feel like today DeBrincat is going to get traded.
there are 99 possible jersey numbers. if we assign forever numbers…you see where this goes?
how about folks stop being so extremely sensitive.
this is a steve yzerman thing. there are no leaks ever that come out of the detroit front office. That is why you hear nothing.
Speaking of ahlers, Brian Lashof would be a great choice for a vid.
The Cole number saga is sloppy. Why wouldn't a member of the VAN organization head this off before it became public?
I can’t help but feel DeBrincat is going to Anaheim for a song. Dorien really messed up the Talbot trade and the DeBrincst trade last year. He should have flipped DeBrincat right away.
Cole changing it is completely unnecessary
Debrincat's agent screwed this up. The league is unfortunately anti smaller players right now.
Sens are trying to turn their reputation around and this is happening… NHL really needs to look at income tax discrepancies based on country/state/province you are playing in.
the Senagoth goes hard
Classy move by Cole to change the number !
If you do a video of guys with long AHL careers something I have been curious about is how much they make doing it. It might be chump change by pro sports standards but is so and so a 26yo making how much to play and mentor kids?
@ 0:40 lol. as if anyone has any intentions of buying a $300 Teddy Blueger jersey
I am placing the blame for the DeBrincat situation squarely on the shoulders of Stan Bowman. He made it so that the final year of the contract paid DeBrincat $9 million, well above his $6.4 million cap hit. It's no wonder Chicago traded him away, they probably didn't want to deal with this problem, either.
It stinks that Dorion gave-up three picks for this guy, and probably won't get back the same value to get rid of him. I think the Sens would be better off at this point to just wash their hands of him and let him be some other team's problem.
I understand the the fans have adopted the no #28 in memoriam and respect. It was up to management to retire the number. Until then, anybody should be able to wear it if they choose. It's on management as far as I am concerned.
Technically Akil had 3 shoulder surgeries as he had both shoulders operated on 2 seasons ago and then re-injured one that required surgery which was a shame as he was really starting to play well when he got hurt hopefully a healthy season awaits Akil
I don't get the upset. People are idiots. They must have very little going on in their lives to get upset over a uniform number on a professional sports team. This kind of scheiße didn't go on before the internet. Jeez!
I’d love to see a video on top ahl players to never really make the nhl. Similar with top European/Russian league players to never really make the nhl
I hope a team gives him an offersheet, so he is tempted to sign. Just so Ottawa can accept it for whatever price lol it'll be funner than arbitration. Although that wouldn't work if it's too expensive like 9m otherwise they can retain the picks
Any player who makes it to the AHL has done really well. Yeah everyone dreams of a long NHL career and multiple Cups, but the skill level is SO high and the competition is SO great that being a good AHL player is still a darn good accomplishment. The same thing is true of the NFL and college football. Or the MLB and getting to AAA or AA ball.
It sure is fine, isn't it?
As a diehard Wild fan who has literally watched every game since their inception, I have to bring this up about Dumba. The fact he is still unsigned, points to what the majority of Wild fans already know, HE IS NOT A TOP 4 defenseman at the NHL level. He showed flashes and promise in the past that he could be that, but that's a s far as it went. He has never been the same since his injury that came from the fight with the RAT 2.0 (Matthew Tkachuk). Yeah Dumba has one hell of a shot, but ZERO accuracy! He can play a physical game, but is too often injured due to it! He's great guy in the community, but a liability on the ice. When you watch him all the time, you get frustrated beyond belief at the mental mistakes he makes on the ice and how it costs the team. There are basically only 2 reasons he lasted as long as he did here. First, he played along side Jonas Brodin, (who I think is one of the most underrated D-men in the league) who was able to cover for Dumba's mistakes a lot of the time. And second, because the Wild couldn't find anyone to take him and the $6 mil cap hit that came with him. At best he is a 3rd pair defenseman and worth maybe $2 mil per year.
Don't want a number being worn? If only something could be done to make that never happens…
53 doesn’t matter bo did a lot and and was great but he was just the captain for a rebuilding team but what cole did he’s a stand up guy he didn’t have to do he’s a respected player won a cup but huge W for cole really respect that guy Luc lives forever in Canucks fans hearts
