It's crazy that 39 year old Ovi missed 5 weeks due to a broken foot and still scored 44 goals, was a PPG player, and oh ya broke the all time goal scoring record. 😅
I doubt it's a "never," it's just one of those storylines that will take another 10-15 years to develop. By that point, they'll be household names, and nobody will be surprised when the next goal/point total record holder finally takes the title.
It's just that it's hard to imagine two serious contenders battling simultaneously.
I was 17 when they came into the league. I was the youngest guy in our hockey pool so everyone thought I was a noob. I knew ovi and Crosby were gonna be huge. I got to pick the number 1 and number 2 then also had a bunch of other guys who were on last contract year. By Jan I was over 30 points ahead of second and never slowed down. I then proceeded to load up on oilers in the playoffs and ran away with that one by the middle of the second round. Needless to say I wasn't taken lightly again and noone let me load up again. Man what a year it was bragging rights with all the old boys felt awesome.
I’m Australian so Ice hockey is non existent in my country, I watched mighty ducks as a kid and fkn loved the idea of the sport then as a 33 year old man videos like this pop up and fuck I wish this sport was a big thing over here because this is fkn sick. Awesome video, might have to check some games out
Crosby missed 250 games, hes been over a point per game, so you add a low estimate of 250, he would be at 1982, knocking on the door of 2000 points. Hes top 5. No i think ovi deserves a spot in too 5 if not 6th

I respect the hell out of the greats.. but the game is just better now and these guys being able to be great for so long has them top 2 all time for me

I'm sorry youngster but it's not even close in my eyes. Sid plays both ways and is a team first player. Ovi is all about Ovi. Cook the scoring books all you want Ovi is a great player but Crosby is and always will be Numero Uno.
