MASSIVE WIN: Red Wings shutout Montreal Canadiens in battle for top of the Atlantic

The Detroit Red Wings went into Montreal and took care of business. Their best players showed up, Larkin, Raymond, DeBrincat and Copp all scoring. In net John Gibson was lights out again, earning his 3rd shutout of the season. As a whole, the Red Wings did a great job defending a fast, rush-dependant Canadiens team. Now, we turn out attention to Sergei Fedorov retirement night as Detroit faces off against the Caorlina Hurricanes! #LGRW

  1. McLellan seems to be a genius the way things are playing out. Breaking up the lines and spreading the top scorers around in different lines is working well, and it's showing (so far) how the Wings' depth can overwhelm opponents. Lovin' it – and looking forward to seeing more as this season progresses! LGRW!

  2. Totally put them in their place. Taught them there are levels to this shit. Such a young team… and not just young but small… looked like grown men vs boys. Suzuki getting whooped on faceoffs, caufield getting pressed into the glass from simon… lot of good things to take from this one. Seems like this team just finds that next gear every other game. It’s to the point where they don’t necessarily need to try as hard as they have been the last couple years. They simply play hockey, and because they are a good club, they win. Hard to put into words what we’re seeing this season.

  3. I was 10 years old in 97’ and I’m so thankful I got to watch 19 and 91 play and win 3 cups together.
    LGRW!!!!!

  4. Odd thumbnail choice. The power play was awful in that game. It has been awful all 3 games Kane has been demoted.

  5. Slow down, everyone. Have not we seen seven wins in a row followed by 10 of 12 losses? Just keep this up until April. McClellan certainly beats the daylights out of our previous coaching jokes.

  6. I feel like the Red Wings are built a lot like the kraken were a couple of days ago when they first made the playoffs a couple years ago

  7. that was the most complete game i have seen in the last 4.5 years of play (wouldnt be surprised if some of you said its been longer than that)

  8. I can still remember a game at the Joe. 91 and 19 did a lot of double shifts almost the entire 3 rd period. Then I saw something I never saw before, Stevie Y did a triple shift!!! My legs were already hurting thinking of the double shifts, but my level of respect went through the roof on the triple!!

  9. Out of curiosity what the hell channel was this game on? Couldn't find it on FUBO, so had to listen on XM satellite.

  10. Maybe Im biased. But I thought Soderblom played well. He is starting to realize he's the biggest dude on the ice

  11. I watched the game and I dont think we dominated montreal I think we played well but they put some pressure on and had some bad luck, I think the difference was they didnt get bodies in front of Gibson he seen everything and montreal took undisciplined penalties

  12. There was a moment listening to Bruce Martyn on the radio when Fedorov stole the puck from Gretzky who was left angry and baffled that someone could actually do that to him that will forever be in my memory bank.
