Suck and blow time again. A new streak begins. It’s losing time again. Writing a book on how to lose games? Look at the Pens!
Maybe they're not paid enough.
You cannot rely on playing perfect every game to win a lot. You need to rely on skill. And we sent our skill (Guentzel, Mccann, Zucker, Rodrigues) to help some other teams
Kevin Hayes is the problem, healthy scratch for their 6 game win streak, first 2 games back in the lineup and they lose.
I just think this pens team smoke and mirrors. We’re the definition of a 500 team who’s likely only even that cause of a weird year where every other team in the conference just happens to be a 500 team. I still think it would make much more sense just to sell of the good pieces we have and have a tough conversation with Sid. The either you can stay here as we rebuild and lead some young guys or we can move you to a contender if you want but this is not sustainable
Why are we putting our top 3 lines in a blender just because a winger gets hurt? That's the mystifying issue I'm seeing. Instead of plug and playing, our head coach is trying to big brain it by wiping away any potential chemistry that was already built through the course of the 6 game win streak.
I'm not gonna sit here and blame the losses on Kevin Hayes, but I also think it's pretty insane that we're carrying him as 13th forward to begin with. There's a reason someone spent a 2nd round pick to get rid of him. He doesn't possess the ability to play the brand of hockey that Muse is trying to deploy.
Also, the team has 5 natural centers on the team. If Hayes HAS to play center because he can't help the team win by playing on the wing, then he just doesn't need to be on the roster. Period.
the pens announcers are great at polishing turds after putrid pens games ! calgary is a crap , bottom feeder team , and losing to boston 1 to zero is beyond pathetic !
Want to see the jumbo line back together.
Kulak has been awful since day 1. He was even worse early on. He's actually improving a lot, still very bad, but improving.
That being said. Rust being injured and Hayes being added in destroys the team. Not because Hayes is so bad(he is), but because Muse decimates the lines and puts Hayes in a position he should not be in with Mantha and Brazeau.
This is absolutely egregious. I'm not sure where you out Hayes, but to wreck all lines besides the 4th for this guy and this is what you get. 1 goal against two horrible teams.
Kulak just played every game of 2 cup runs and every game of a 6 game winning streak. Maybe its a little early to bury the guy after 1 bad weekend when the penguins main problem was not scoring goals.
Bravo DK. I hadn't looked at that angle of my Penguins.
DK we keep saying play the kids. Problem is when we play them we see they ain't all that. This team isn't deep. Getting young unfortunately is more than just lowering the age. Some need more development. Some are all they are ever gonna be. Kulak should be traded as soon as we have a taker.
they can’t leave the same guys out there for the last 3 full minutes of a game. including Sid. even down 1. rotate in the likes of Lizotte, Brazeau, to win pucks and bang around in front of the net for greasy goals. fatigue is real, no matter how badly you need a goal
Hi Dk, as for Kulak, I believe too Dubas and company are not resigning him. I think he may have had a chance if he showed he's best right a way, so trade deadline flip it is for him. I also believe Dubas will attempted to flip Hayes. I know you like him, his ability to hold on to the puck, but he hasn't been good at all. Take a 4th or 5th for him! I really hope, to go along with your beginnings, that between draft next year and/or trade Dubas aquires some elite young talent. Our younger guys have some talent, flashes that get us excited for the now and future, but not enough. I heard a rumour that Dubas loves Jason Robertson and if this is true, Dallas has not extended him, he was on the trade block which usually pisses off a player, and there's a chance at a trade in the early summer or free agency go get him!!! That would be an amazing acquisition.
My question is when Muse saw that they weren’t producing on offense, why didn’t he try out the Malkin, Mantha and Brazeau..
#J1Q Kevin Hayes?
With the number of games that they're playing, who wouldn't be running out of gas. Just so they can play in the Olympic Winter Games..
I think this is the same problem the team has had for years. They dont do well vs the lesser skilled, harder hitting, bigger, chippy teams. That coupled with Muse who seems to view forward lines as lab experiments when one forward goes down. The forwards are out there flying around kinda randomly so not making anything happening..
While kulak didn’t have a good game, that breakaway was not his fault. Letang made a panic pass at his feet when they had guys forechecking him at the point which caused the turnover. Not much kulak can do in that situation. Should’ve kept it deep in the zone
I think Letang is playing better because of Kulack..he doesnt look old and tired out there. Graves is a no way. The D gave up one goal in this game and people are blaming Kulack and Letang and the D. Muse needs to do a much better job at assembling his lines when a little adversity happens…He;s a rookie coach so I guess he has a learning curve
We need to bring Graves up and trade kulak at this point I'll take any flip we can get for him
This was a fantastic episode!
Thank you DK. That terrible pass attempt , made me wonder. Yes they tire out and it will get worse. The wave and the tide has changed. I hope they get back on track to what works better and what they had been doing. Great show DK
DK – Do you think there's any chance they're playing Kulak in a top-four role with the hopes of flipping him at the deadline?
DK, Do yo think that Crosby just could not figure out what the replacement wingers for Rust was doing. And I dont' understand why they mix up 3 line to replace one person. I know Crosby likes a specific type of winger. But Mario didn't Care. Sorry about the reference.
Hey DK, I really struggled watching both these games. They had nothing for the game versus the Flames and even less for the Bruins. But the game against Boston had me scratching my head, how much worse does Letang and Kulak have to be before Muse sits them down for a shift or two. I do agree, Malkin looks a step behind and severly rusty. I also agree Sid looked tired but he still made a handful of unbelievable passes that guys are not finishing on, I also struggle calling Sid out. The one thing I contribute the major hiccup is the Penguins had four lines going with what I saw as two of those lines being untouchable. But Muse touched the Novak, Mantha, and Brazeau line…..why? So with the Rust injury he essentially played with 3 out of the 4 lines??? This team can get the fans excited and than lose in such a way that makes ya think, they still need some major tooling. Bad weekend, lets see what the next game brings…..my guess it'll have more Letang and Kulak!
The most concerning thing about the team being drained and without much energy with the "every other day" scheduling is how will they deal with a playoff series?
Caleb Jones is about two weeks from returning. Does he replace Shea when he finishes his conditioning assignment in WBS?
