Believe or Not Believe: Trade Rumors Surrounding the Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes, in recent days, have been linked to possible players they could acquire via trade. Between Pierre LeBrun and Elliotte Friedman, is there any validity to the rumors? Also, should the Hurricanes be in on these players involved? On the Thursday Edition of Locked On Hurricanes, Zach begins the show by going over the rumors that the Hurricanes could be interested in reuniting with defenseman Dougie Hamilton. Does it make sense for the Hurricanes to trade for him back after he left for free agency back in 2021? Where would he even fit in on the blue line? Secondly, Zach looks at the possibility of Elias Pettersson coming to the Hurricanes despite a high AAV and being a player that might not fit the system. Does it make sense to go for the Swedish forward from the Vancouver Canucks? Finally, Zach shares his idea of a possible 2C to trade for if they wanted to have a true reunion. Vincent Trocheck left back in 2022 and only makes $5.625M a season. Plus, the Hurricanes already traded with this team ahead of the 2025-26 season back in July. All of that and more, on the latest edition of Locked On Hurricanes.

  1. If any of these happen the only one that makes any sense is Trochek. There are some other guys I'd rather have but they might not be available.

  2. We nothing to do with joke boy Hamilton please leave the quitters and losers on the New Jersey devils

  3. No interest in Hamilton. I lost respect for him when he didn’t go after the puck along the end boards to avoid a hit. Too soft for Rod. If we could get Vincent that would be great but I doubt he’s available. I’d give up KK, Nadeau, probably another AHL player and a high pick.

  4. Thanks Zach, agree with you about Hamilton and Trochek, will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Hope the boys come out strong Friday, we need to get back to winning! Let’s go Caines!

  5. None of the centers available are worth the prospects and picks available and all have massive warts , And Dougie is a no way and everyone who is involved in a trade should be fired immediately . This team is already soft enough and acquiring Hamilton or like mentioned on 32 thoughts by Friedman we were going to give up Nikishin and probably a bunch more for Quinn Hughes who's like all of the Hughes is soft and often injured is dumber than dumb but coming from Rod and Tulsky who think you can "play the right way " and win it all in this league is not surprising in the least .

  6. Hamilton is not a fit. Heck no and hell no to his salary. Vinny, i never wanted him to go in the first place. It sucked when he left.

  7. No team is going to do a one for one trade involving KK. GMET may have to unload one of the fan favorites to build a better team in the short term. Svech, Walker, Miller, and Blake have all had good moments, but take a lot of costly penalties. Might be a good place to start if prospects and KK aren't enough in a trade package.

Canes fans need to check to terms with the fact that playing the way they have been is good enough for one of if not the top spot in the conference. This team needs to hone in on their playoff experience and grind if they want to win.

The Olympic break is coming at the perfect time for this tired team. The end of season push is really testing whether Rod can get the boys to buy in and grind through a playoff run. If that can't be done, you may need to have an eye out for someone to bring in a new voice/system that can win in the playoffs.

  8. Dougie is to old and expensive. Trochek has burned some bridges, he's not worth the drama. 2C and goalie. Otherwise I think were good and juat need consistency and less injury.
