Recap: San Diego Gulls vs Abbotsford Canucks, 1.14.2026



The San Diego Gulls dropped a 5-3 decision to the Abbotsford Canucks on Wednesday night at Pechanga Arena San Diego, despite outshooting Abbotsford 39-24. San Diego controlled much of the opening frame and was rewarded late in the period when Sam Colangelo buried a power-play goal at 18:48 to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The teams traded goals early in the second period, with Abbotsford tying the game before Yegor Sidorov restored the Gulls’ advantage midway through the frame. San Diego continued to generate pressure, firing 20 shots in the period, but the game remained tight heading into the third with the Gulls holding a 2-1 edge.
Abbotsford broke the game open early in the final period with two quick goals, including a power-play tally, swinging momentum in their favor. Roland McKeown pulled San Diego back within one at 11:28, but the Canucks responded with another goal and sealed the game with an empty-net marker in the final minute.

  1. 😢 Lines seemed to be changed up drastically last night, which I think caused turnovers and passing inefficiencies.
